How does this turn into Slash Vs Buckethead?

if you know music, you know buckethead is a better guitarist, in terms of music acknowledgment and technical skill, but music is an art, and i don't believe it can be narrowed down to such a basic concept, the perception to a listener will be the judging point, and to each his own, as a guitar teacher myself, i simply prefer Buckethead, as to me he is more soulful (gasp, i said it) than slash and can play circles around him in any style of music- for me!

Anyway, i wasn't measuring the impact on gnr, just the potential impact i think Buckethead could have had, on both slow and fast and anything inbetween leads.

I agree 100%.
+1 on Bucket being more soulful too....Anyone whos ever heard the Electric Tears album will know that

yeah but on stage buckethead is boring as hell, he doesnt even move

I like to see people moving on stage and not wearing bucket in their heads, but this is just my opinnion.

buckethead and slash both are great players
Dimebag isnt dead... he just smells funny

Slash IS, forever, Guns n'Roses's guitarist. Stop.
the others aren't Guns n'Roses member! they came from another jam. they have the name, but they aren't Guns n'Roses.
However Slash is a great, i think the best, hard rock icon! instead Buckethead isn't.
About whos the best guitarist it nevermind because certainly there are many better then both!
I like Buckethead, but in another group, also with Axl, but in another gruop.
The name of a band don't make The band!

Actually, don't hold that "there are many better players than Buckethead" ... Buckethead playing-wise is in held in very high prestige in the music world (not the pop world, the music world: Steve Vai's good words, Satch's, Shawn Lane, prolly the last super no-one-can touch all had good intrest), Slash is not.

Just to stay, there isn't tooo many better than Buckethead.

The truth is in 2001/2002 Bucket was merely just covering Slash's riffs and putting his own twist on it. He is (very fuckin) talented but he can't write aswell as Slash

Well, yea and that's why you gotta respect the dude ... he plays what he wants, he could easily turn into some session player and make money with simple pop music but he chooses art over it.

Let's evaluate that one once Slash has some real solo-albums under his belt, untill then it's an unfair concept (especially) as long CD (incl. Buckethead's parts... that is) isn't released. However, in terms of showing what kind of guitarplayer is out there once it's all just about him, Buckethead has the better papers. Yes he played Slash's riffs on the tour, but it was clear from the get go that during that tour the objective was to let the public get used to the new band (and that's what you do then). How far CD was actually from being released back then should be really obvious by now.

I have played guitar for ten years and I listen to music wherever I am and I have heard almost everything Buckethead has done and also what Slash has done. Buckethead is great alone and is a great lead guitar player, but... Slash is better  :finger: but I guess you are more into the guitarplaying than the music.
