mr. karloff played frankenstien's monster in the early frankenstien movies.

Boris Karloff is a genius.. he was born in England and after attending London University he emigrated to Canada to persue a carrer in acing, much to the disgrace of his parents who assumed he would folow a diplomatic career like his father.

He has held the title of "master of horror movies" for a long time and is most commonly known for portraying Frankenstein, but his carreer is much deeper than that, he began acting during the beginning of the silent movie era... Frankenstein was just the beginning of his success, he also had an air of mystery which made him and instant hit (for example in the credits of Frankenstein, his name was only listed as a "?")

He went on to do other movies such as Scarface (1932), the Mummy (1932 also) and Isle of the Dead (1945) -- and personally one of my favorite classic horror movies, his popularity declined for awhile with the making of some movies that did not do justice to either his skill or his "persona"... in 1960 his acting carrer took a turn up again as he acted several new horror movies, while suffering from emphysema.

He passed away in February of 1969 from his disease.

*Edit* having a blonde moment (no offense to blondes, because god forbid we would offend someone)

in Ed Wood some guy asked "Mr. Lugosi" for his autograph and confused him for Karloff.... Mr. Lugosi flipped his lid all over the guy who asked for the autograph. Hence the prank call with Karloff flipping out.

took a bit to figure this one out... doeant negate the fact I think Boris Karloff rules
