Slash and Duff vs Axl TRIAL DELAYED

for any of you that actually care...

According to Here Today... Gone To Hell!, the jury trial in connection with a 2004 lawsuit filed by former GUNS N' ROSES members Slash (guitar) and Duff McKagan (bass) against the band's lead singer, Axl Rose, claiming he ripped them off to the tune of at least a million dollars, has been postponed from March to May. The trial is now set to begin on May 16. The case is expected to last five-seven days and could possibly feature court appearances from all the parties in person.

In the suit, Duff and Slash claim Rose doesn't have any controlling interest in the songs, but they say he killed deals that would have put their tunes in a half dozen movies, including "Just Married", "We Were Soldiers", "Death to Smoochie" and "Old School". In addition, Rose allegedly squashed a deal to allow the producers of the movie "Black Hawk Down" to use the band's huge hit, "Welcome to the Jungle" in the film. Instead, he wanted to re-record it, thereby allegedly cheating his ex-band mates out of the licensing fee.

David Powell, who runs "The Music Bridge", a company that deals with music rights for movies, told Celebrity Justice in 2004: "Licensing is very important for any band or any artist that gets out there in popular culture.

"There are many income streams that can be generated from the songs, as well as the master recordings, for years and sometimes generations to come."

Delayed from MARCH to MAY for no real reason? maybe this is how slash knows he is releasing the album in march.  he needs a little bit of time to promote it and not think about the damn lawsuit. coincidence?????........ maybe.

took the words right outta my mouth.

the bad part is, that means no tour during may, which would be suicide for the band.

-release an album in march
-wait two months
-world tour

he could do a few shows and do some more recording during the trail. When the trail is over have a world tour and start to think about a cd for next year with the extra 19 songs he would have left. And he could do a show here and there during the trail it not completely impossible.

I thaught that Slash doesn't have a problem with Axl. Suing someone doesn't really portray that.

well.  depends on how long the trial is.  i would think it'd be pretty long (like the m. jackson trial?)  well mabye not that long, but it won't be an in and out thing, i don't think.  i could be totally wrong, though.

Thank God is all i can say. VR has only put they're songs in bad movies at least Axl knows when to say no to movie deals. Only 2 songs from GnR have been in movies and IMO both excellent movies, T2 and End of Days.

Oh know dude dont get me wrong slash and duff are dicks they will do everything can to get some, but im just saying that where ever the trail is being held he would make some stops and play a show in some places now and then. And does he have to be there every day the trail is going on? if not he could make and over night stop play a show and go back home. Even if there is no tour right away CD will be out and you know axl will do some shows plus CD WILL BE OUT and we can talk when he will play some shows.

march is 2 weeks away...
if the album is to come out, we would have known already.

who the hell puts out an album with out releasing a signle at least a month before...

one unexplored option is them making a video 4 a single, but I doubt it.
Finck... you fag!  :( why did you have to go...?

The article does say its expected to last 5 to 7 days, not monthes. Although i'm sure it could go longer but not much more than that. It's not like anyone was molested....Well recently at least.
