Honestly I am beginning to believe that Axl put that in the press release to provoke this very kind of attack.  What's a better way to usher yourself back into the fray than pissing off the band of your former bandmates and starting a feud.  This will beat the Motley Crue v. GnR feud.  What will piss me off is if Axl's response to Weiland is either another press release through his lawyer or a lawsuit for slander.

As for my original post, I was more upset with the fact that not only was it Weiland responding instead of Slash, who's name is being dragged through the mud as the person who allegedly insulted the members of VR, but also because he's attacking Axl's recent track record of screwing people over when his junkie ass is just as guilty.  And the whole slamming Axl's ability to write a song was by far the most baseless blathering I've ever heard uttered in regards to Axl's credibility.  I'm sorry, I guess November Rain doesn't count.  And, pray tell, what songs did you, Mr. Weiland, write the majority of in STP?  Oh wait, that's right...The Deleo brothers wrote all your songs.  Damn...pot calling kettle black there.  Attack Axl's assholish nature...no problem.  Attack Axl's attacks against your bandmates and indeed yourself...I'm fine with that.  But don't state things either you don't know or has been fed to you by your bandmates.  You weren't there, you don't know.  Sure, AFD credits the whole band....but you can't deny any of the lyrics Axl wrote (and I say it like that so no one can come screaming that Izzy wrote lyrics too).  Keep your punches up...you're going below the belt on things you only know one side to.  Stick to what's known, you'll appear more credible that way.

Somebody had to say it. Axl came out through his lawyer and trashed Scott's bandmates. Scott had to say something to let everyone know that he cares about his band. I wouldn't put anything past Axl, and what happened to the whole "I haven't spoken to Slash in 10 years" thing? Did he all of a sudden remember this 5:30 in the morning visit Slash made to his house in October? Axl's statement, through his lawyer, sounds completely ridiculous. Can you really imagine Slash saying "Axl you are 'the stronger'"?? Scott came out and reacted like Axl used to, when everybody loved Axl and thought he was great because he didn't take b/s from anyone. He wasn't afraid to speak his mind. Now he has to run everything by his 'handlers' before he decides to say anything. His therapist probably convinced him that he just blocked out the memory of Slash visiting his house because it was too painful. Give me a break people. The new songs are really good and I, like everyone else, really want to hear the album. Axl needs to stop delaying and just put the thing out. Until then, at least somebody is speaking their mind.

I'll be glad if we have a new GNR album, but this time... SCOTT wins

Axl has no new official songs since 1991, so that's 15 years (Maybe i'm wrong, 1993), but in 13 or 15 years I don't remember any song of Scott that gets even closer to Axl's songs. so Scott you suck. and he looks like a faggot on stage. Now I hate that kind of little band called VR

I totally agree.  Fan or not, Axl is 100 times more talented as a song writer than Weiland.  I hadn't even thought about GnR since I saw them live in Boston a few years ago, but the demo's brought me back, and made me realize just how great the songs are that Axl writes.  Catcher in the Rye is amazing.

VR totally took the bait with this.  Axl played them, and they fell right into the trap. And this only gives both bands more pub...

This is a good sign.

Didn't a website add those comments, the official statement lacked that part or something.

like I wrote before, I also think so. would be cool if scott finds out afterwards that he responded to a fake-article

My thoughts exactly, so then we'd have the Guitarist and bassist putting out false claims against Axl and the lead singer putting out false claims over Axl or any of Axl's Affiliates writing that. they'd be just one big false claiming band  :D

Both Axl and Weiland should both shut up.  Why doesn't Axl tell us about the guitar void left by Buckethead, instead of wasting our time complaining about Slash through his lawyer?  Everyone seems to think that Chinese Democracy will be released any minute now just because we heard some leaked material that is probably many years old.  Sure Axl is scheduled to tour, but does that really guarantee anything?  Hardly.  Both bands should just shout their mouths and stop acting like little kids.
Never lose hope: BRING BACK SLASH.

I thinks its sad that two adults are bashing eachother this way, then again Axl made the first move and I think Weiland has defiantly a point! Axl is acting like a freak the last 10 years.
As for Slash showing up at Axl’s house, didn’t Axl say that he hadn’t talked to Slash in 10 years?
I love the old GNR and even the new demo’s sound pretty good, though nothing earth shattering if you ask me. But worst of all, looking at this new GNR thing (I would even call it a band) on the 2002 tour, it was a big bummer to me……..man there is a guy in there who has a mask and a chicken basket on his head…….shouldn’t that be enough to never use the name GNR again????
At least VR are Rock ‘n Roll. STP by the way was a great band and in my opinion much much better than all those overated Seattle bands like Pearl Jam.

Anyway, the only way GnR is gonna be huge again is if the first single is a gigantic hit. And so far I haven’t heard it yet, but I’m still gonna keep my hopes up for them and support them as much as I can……….believe me their gonna need it.
