umm sadly gnr doesnt have an amazing fan base in the u.s and we are being forced by the media to like shit music so when CD drops itll wake everyone up
Since there seems to be a lot of doubt growing up, I decided to throw my two cents in.People are let down because there is no official statement yet. Let me sum a few things up:The 2002 tour was obviously NOT intended to be a supporting tour for the album, even though we were all expecting that. Guns were testing the waters. The EU / Asia part of the tour was a major success, while the NA part of the tour failed big time. They did not play major cities, venues, apart from NY, Boston etc. Most of the tour, the arenas were not even half full. Some say that was because of the unreleased album (Axl announced during the tour that the album was not finished). I don't think so. Europe, Brazil, Asia, was a huge success, even without an album. America was not. That cleary shows us where Guns' biggest fanbase is located. In 2004, Guns were planning on doing RIR, as well as a European tour, which most likely would have been the exact same thing as the upcoming one. But the plug got pulled when Bucket left. We know that the 2004 tour was intended to be in support of the album. But it did not happen, most likely due to the fact that they did not know at that time what to do with Buckets parts, wether to keep them on the album or not. I'm sure there were legal issues surrounding that question.Decisions have been made, and the 2006 tour obviously is planned in support of the album, which is reportedly not finished yet. The question is if it will be out prior to the EU-Tour. It would not be needed, the shows are already selling like hell. And you can expect more dates to be announced soon. The problem is: If the album is not out before the tour, it is very likely that the setlist won't be different from 2002, just to prevent more leaks. I don't know if that would be a problem for EU-fans (casual fans, not us die-hards), but it could very well be. And what after that? Sooner or later, Guns will have to play the US, and as far as we know now, this summer dates will be the only ones in Europe in 2006. They could play Asia in Fall (would definately be successful even without an album), yes.But the album has to be released at the latest before they tour the US again.Another point: When IRS first leaked to the Trunk show, management freaked out to stop the airplay. Not this time. Yesm, there were cease & desist orders, but still the leaks got airplay. If they would have REALLY intended to stop this, they would have managed to. Get my point? It looks good this time, and be sure that Axl & Merck are aware of the danger that a full blown tour without a supporting product would carry. Don't be let down. The things which happened since January were 'better' than anything since the UYI tour. Just lay back, relax, enjoy. There are a lotta things to come this year...../PG
