Feedback on Demo Vocals.

I agree these demo's are good. They make me excited about CD's potential. I'm just getting back in the ring, (joined this forum after seeing new GNR live in Pittsburgh in 2002 and haven't posted since - Oh yea, Axl & the boys were awesome from the front row), so I think the demo's I've downloaded in the last two weeks aren't the ones the rest of you have (which is fine, I know they got pulled.)

My question is this: I can't understand a damn word in either I.R.S. or Better (haven't found TWAT)? The vocals are too low, and I can't understand the words.  Short of some idiot pointing out they are demo's, does anyone have a comment on this, and can you understand the vocals on pulled versions? I heard Better on Kerrang radio (nice Slash55), and I couldn't understand words either.  Does anyone think they'll be enhanced?

P.S. how funny are these idiots who apparently hate Axl, but spent time on this board!

I can't make out what alot of what is said in IRS,but the others like Better,There Was A Time,and Catcher In The Rye,I can hear the vocals clearly.

I can make out to a lot of what is said and some differs from the lyrics that are posted here on the forum. Example: In IRS theres a line towards the end that says:

"Like a broken record for so long "


I think it says:

"Waiting for the record for so long".

I cannot make out much either.  Unless I listen very carefully with headphones.  IRS is definitely the most difficult.  I can hear Axl pretty well but he just sings so fast, Better is a little easier.  I think that is one of the flaws in these songs.  Great thing going, Axl sounds awesome just some timing and volume adjustments are necessary.  The majority of TWAT is pretty easy, but the chorus and the end you can barely hear Axl at all.  The chorus is not very good at all, it just has too many things coming at you at once, the ending where Axl starts really screaming should be showed off more.  His singing is amazing, but it is really tough to hear.  The first time I heard the song, I didn't even know there was singing in the end.  They should definitely showcase that more.

Hmm this goes against everything i've said in the past, but can i get a copy of CITR? i was never going to download TWAT but i'm happy i did, it really is a sexy song   and i just can't resist hearing it.. if anyone has it i'd love to hear it, if you don't want to spread i'd also be content with that

I had no problem understanding the lyrics in the songs. Though I think Catcher In The Rye's vocals could be tuned up a bit, but it's probably due to the poor quality demo.

Other than that, I had no problem with the songs, except for some parts of Rhiad and the Bedouins.

And the lyrics should be heard too, cuz they're very well done. Axl has not lost his writing ability. If anything, I think he's improved it a bit.

Without discussing specific lyrics, I wanted to add this to all the great feedback.  I let two of my friends listen to the demo's.  They aren't die hards, but would consider buying disc when its released.  They both said they liked a lot of parts, and think its "alright", but (with the exception of Madagascar and Chinese Dem.) can't understand 90% of the words.

Think of all great rock albums (regardless of your tastes) like Back In Black, Appetite, Metallica Black Album, Led Zep, etc. - on first listen your struck by great riffs and killer vocals which are clearly understood. I'm hoping as much as anyone thats what we get.  We all love Axl's writing and voice - He needs them to be heard for this thing to go over.
