I actually really like this stuff.  Also, it will broaden GNR's fan base, because of the range of styles.  I took awhile to get used to every new song, including the ones played on the tour, because they were all such a radical departure from the former GNR's sound, and because they really aren't structured very traditionally. (eg. verse-bridge-chorus-verse w/e etc etc)  But after a few listens all the hooks just suddenly jumped out.  And i played the demoes for my fiance and she, despite absolutely hating Guns N' Roses, loved them.  As for the "muddy" sound quality, they are demos, except for CITR, which sounds fine, and the other demos just sound like they need a new mix and they'll be fine also.  Axl's singing has never been particularly easy to understand because of the way he likes his vocals recorded, with very little treble, just listen to a lot of UYI, especially "Bad Apples", the clarity of the vocals is the same.  I'm done ranting now, i'm going back to bed. :ninja:
Fight me I'll take you, doubt me I'll break you

I really can't understand how people can't understand the words...it boggles my mind. Within the first few listens of many of these songs, I was already singing along with my horrible singing voice. lmao

They're easily understood and very catchy, I thought.

Catcher in the Rye

When all is said and done
We're not the only ones
Who look at life this way
That's what the old folk's say
But every time I’d see them
Makes me wish I had a gun

If I thought that I was crazy
Well I guess I'd have more fun
Guess I'd have more fun

Ooh the Catcher in the Rye again
Ooh won't let ya get away from his gun
It's just another day like today

You decide
If I don't have to
Then they'll find
And I won't ask you
At anytime
Or long thereafter
If it's cold outside
I’m imaging
How it’s gonna be
All alone

(Solo)

Ooh the Catcher in the Rye again,
Ooh won't let ya get away from his gun
It's just another day like today

When all is said and done
We're not the only ones
Who look at life this way
That's what the young folk's say
As if they'd ever change
That's not whom I to say
But every time I'd see them
Makes me wish I had a gun
If I thought that I was crazy
Well I guess I'd have more fun
It's what used to be's not there for me
And ought to find someone that belonged insane like I do

Oh no
Not at all (repeat)

On an ordinary day
Not in an ordinary way
All at once this song I heard
No longer would it play for anybody
Or anyone
That needed comfort from somebody
Needed comfort from someone who cared
To be
Not like you
Unlike me
And then the voices went away
From me
So that it set the wheels in motion
Haunts our memories
You were the instrument
You were the one
How a body took the body
Gave that boy a gun
Took our innocence
Beyond our stance
Some type of moment
There we got it
All alone with her (hurt?) today

Guns N' Roses - Better

No one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better.

No one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better

The hardest part
This troubled heart
Has never yet been through now
We've healed the scars
That got their start
Inside someone like you now

Well had I known
Or I'd been shown back when how long it’d take me
To break the challenge
That brought me home
And all that won't erase me

I never would
Know that I could
No matter what you'd pay me.
Replay the part
You stole my heart
I should have known you're crazy

If all I knew was that with you
I'd want someone to save me
It'd be enough
But just my luck
I fell in love and baby all that I wanted was

Now I know you better
You know I'd know better,
Now I know you better

So bittersweet
This tragedy
Won't ask for absolution
This melody
Inside of me
Still searches for solution
A twist of fate
A change of heart
Kills my infatuation
A broken heart
Provides the spark for my determination

No one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better
Ooh, no one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better

All that I wanted was
I know you know you know better
You know I know you know better
Yeah you know me better

(Solo)

I never wanted you to be so full of anger
I never wanted you to be somebody else
I never wanted you to be someone afraid to know themselves
I only wanted you to see things for yourself

All that I wanted was

Now I know you better
Now we all know better
All that I wanted was

(Solo)

I know better (repeat)

If I were you
I’d manage to
Avoid the invitation
Of promised love
That can’t keep up
With your adoration
Just use your head
And in the end
You’ll find your inspiration
To choose your steps
And won't regret
This kind of aggravation

No one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better
No one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better

Twat (There Was A Time)

Broken glass and cigarettes
Writing on the wall
It was a bargain for the summer
And I thought I had it all
I was the one who gave you everything
The one who took the fall
You were the one who would do anything
One who can’t recall
Where she was while she was sleeping
In another’s women’s bed
Or the doctors or the lawyers or the stranger that she met
If there’s nothing that I can gain from this
Or anything at all
It'd be the knowledge that you gave me when I thought I'd heard it all

It was a long time for you
It was a long time for me
It’d be a long time for everyone but looks like it’s meant to be

Social class and registers
Cocaine in the hall
All the way from California
On the way beyond that stall
To those non-negotiations, to simulate a call
While the battle of mid-evils, and your ways around the laws
That'd keep you up and sitting pretty
On a pedestal of fear
And now you're sleeping like an angel
Near than man who reaped it
If there's something I can make of this
Or anything at all
It'd be the devil hates a loser and you thought you had it all

It was the wrong time for you
It was the wrong time for me
It was the wrong time for everyone
But it looks like I'm 'bout to see for myself

(YEP)

If I could go back in time to the place in my soul
They’re all alone, lonely teardrops
Ooh, are calling you
But I don't want to know it now
Cuz knowing you it won't change a damn thing

But there was a time

[solo]

There was a time
Didn't want to know it all
Didn't want to know it all
And I don't wanna know it now
Don't want to know it now

Yeah, There was a time
Didn't want to know it all
Didn't want to know it all
And I don't wanna know it now

I would do anything for you
There was a time

I would do anything for you
There was a time

I would do anything for you
There was a time

[solo]

There was a time
I would do anything for you

There was a time
Didn't want to know it all
Didn't want to know it all
And I don't wanna know it now
Don't want to know it now

There was a time
Didn't want to know it all
Didn't want to know it all
And I don't wanna know it now
Don't want to know it now

There was a time
Didn't want to know it all
Didn't want to know it all

IRS

Love
Is it true?
What they say of you

Gonna call the President
Gonna call up the Private Eye
Gonna get the IRS
Gonna need the FBI

There’s not anymore that I can do
All the reasons that you gave
I'll follow you
To when you plead the fifth, that’d be the end of time, its true

Wouldn’t be the first time I've been wrong
Wouldn't be the last I should have known
Through all the rumors I can tell,
Some things didn't work so well

Well anyway, it feels the same

When you first told me you were gone
So long ago, but I've been here long
To all the luck getting outta the debt
That's the truth and here's the worst yet
Wouldn't even matter the things I say
You made your mind up ad hoc anyway
There's no use now in dragging it on
Could've seen it coming all along

Well it’s true...ooh...I had
My doubts of you

Gonna call the President
Gonna call myself a Private Eye
Gonna need the IRS
Gonna get the FBI

Gonna make this a federal case
Gonna wave it right down in your face (??)
Read it daily with your morning news
With a cheap hangover, and the headlines true now

[Finck Solo]

I feel your doing this all for my health,
I should've looked again then at somebody else
Feel like I done way more than wrong
Feelin like I never gonna get ya outta this song
Feelin like I'm just too tired to care
Feelin like I done more than my share
Could it be the weight that I've carried on
Like a broken record for so long

And I do
Ooh, oh.
I'm Gonna call the President,
I'm gonna call a private eye
Gonna get the IRS,
Gonna need myself the FBI

Ooh, what shall I do
If I gave my heart to you
It's such a crime you know it’s true

[Bucket solo]

Gonna call the president
Gonna get myself a private eye
Gonna need the IRS
Gonna get the FBI

Gonna make it a federal case
Gonna wave it right down in your face(??)
Read it daily with your morning news
With a cheap hangover, and the headlines true

There's not anymore that I can do
