Axl's Singing Ability
« on: March 21, 2006, 05:38:58 AM »
Sorry if this topic is a repeat.

Out of all the new songs, which do you think Axl's singing sounds the best in?

I personally think he sounds great in There Was A Time. Reminds me of his voice from back in the day on that track.

I love his voice in the verses of Better.

I also think he sounds real good in The Blues. I love how he goes from a low voice to a real high pitched voice and back again in parts of that song. Can't wait to hear the studio version.

What do you think?

I think his voice has held up pretty well over the years.  As for the new songs I would say TWAT and The Blues.

I think he can still give off the low and high pitched of the screaming. But he doesnt want to apperantly. He went in another direction. Which was the big hype in the very beginning.
Besides he would prolly have a heart attack at this point if he did. Sorry was just a thought. Im sorry baby.

Axl's voice in the blues, TWAT, and IRS blow me away.  All are tremendously demanding songs to sing.  The blues to reach those high notes and to go from normal to falsetto so smoothly is amazing.  The end of TWAT may be the most vocally demanding song he or anyone for that matter has ever sung, he puts so much feeling and just amazes me every time I hear it.  Love to hear TWAT live.  IRS is a faced pace, high pitched song-would be easy to come out of breath.  That 15sec. high note at the end is unbelievable.  Better and Catcher or good but much less demanding.  TWAT would have to be my number one favorite.

which singing abilities?

the actual singing or the raspy, fuck your voice up stuff?\

the guy is amazing and can get pretty high in falsetto. i think sweet child o mine is a good song for showcasing. nice boys is cool too because he is waaay up there the whole time.

the guy is a genius; if any of you tried doing what he does with the voice, you'd ruin your folds.
I'm sorry for you, not sorry for me!

While Axl has a great voice, it needs rest. The 2yr + world tour was a bad idea. I couldnt tell you when his voice started to fail, but it did. The Use Your Illusion II live tapes do not flatter Axl at all. Ill go a step ferther and say he sounds like shit.

There are quite a few clips I have d/l'd and deleted because he had nothing left and even the clean vocals were nasty and he couldnt hold the length, depending on the backup singers to cover for him.

If he takes it easy, Itll be good. If he pushes himself too hard, look for cancelled dates or a crap performance.

and to add something to what  the game said, the tokyo shows were held in '92 and there was nearly a year left on that tour. his voice took a did in fact take a beating due to that long ass tour. though as far as the tokyo shows go, i own them and i.m.o. there were a few spots where he sounded like he musta been in pain but there weren't that many in them, i enjoy watching those shows every now and again these days even.
