Darkness playing rock in rio same day as gn'r

According to the official Rock In Rio 2006 web site, The Darkness will be playing at the festival on the same day as GN'R.

Brazilian singer Pitty is also playing on May 27th.

The best way i could describe them is Spinal Tap but actually a real band!!

Um, Spinal Tap was/is a real band.  They've released several albums of material that they have written/performed and they've toured numerous times.  I think what you meant to say was a novelty band...a band that has some success based off of a gimmick (in this case, falsetto singing), but doesn't live to its full potential as the gimmick and irony dies quickly.

The Darkness really piss me off. If you wanna do good music a favour and revive good rock then dont involve the darkness because they are part of the problem. Most people views rock as a bit of a joke and people like the Darkness are a major part in creating that joke. They have made a name for themselves as being a piss-take, tongue-in-cheek, mock n roll band. I would love to see axl beat the shit out of Justin (the lead singer who is actually very talented as a vocalist), but it isn't going to happen. I will give them some credit though, one of their new songs 'is it just me' is really good though.

Spinal Tap was origianlly not a real band the actors/musicainas toured under the name after and released albums and made music videos.
Liam Gallagher famously wallked out halfway during one of their gigs on being told that the band were only putting on their English accent !!

 :nod:  What someone said before about them being a joke was on point. Axl should refuse to let these clowns perform on his stage. Gn'R was what burried bands like this back in the day.
