Lead singers and frontmen DON'T make great guitarists, they leave the solo's and hard bits to the lead guitarists. Mercury tried it at live aid but couldnt pull it off, because watching him sing we will rock you while running around is better. Kurt Cobain wasnt Dimebag, James hecfeild ain't lars ulrich and bono aint the edge. The Only Guy who has pulled it off was jimi hendrix and no one will be able to beat him, but matt heafy from trivium is kinda half decent. :finger:

C'mon, Dave Gilmour from Pink Floyd can sing and play guitar damn well. Jimi's not the only one to pull it off. Mark Knopfler aswell. Both up there in the top ranks of guitar players. Plus someone you even mentioned, James Hetfield?

There's plenty frontman that do rock on the guitar aswell (Zakk Wylde, anyone?).

Just not axl, it doesn't fit his image.

rofl @ Metallicrap.

anywho, Axl should stick to running around and being a good front man, rather than guitaring it up.  sure on like dead horse, it's fine, but surely not on every song.

The addition of another guitar can add more depth to a song and allow it to be closer than the studio version. Almost all the bands I have heard remix multiple guitars in studio, and then it sounds flat when it gets played live.

Ifn Axl wants to get on the guitar and play a few chords, I think he knows what he is doing. If anything, the rap crap he does during the interludes is a bad idea more than playing a few chords with the guys..

How about Dave Mustaine from megadeth, he does a great job of both guitaring and singing.  Axl can do whatever he wants, lol, as long as he does a good job of vocals i don't really care.

He did that also on Rocket Queen in 1989 concerts as well if I recall.
He also played some harmonica during the club days (on Nightrain)...
