YOUR TIP FOR THE FIRST SINGLE

While I like Better, and think it is cool to hear something that different from Axl, to me it is not a good choice for a single. The single needs to appeal to the mainstream, and I don't think better would. There Was A Time would make a great 2nd single, as it is in the vein of classic epics, just with an updated feel. The first single needs to be a very strong rocker, with a quick flow, catchy chorus, and a great solo. This is what most people outside of us fanatics think of when they think Guns, and it is what is most likely to make fans out of them all over again. Once that happens, then branch out and release the songs that stray from the mold. Maybe Better 3rd or 4th, if we get that far.

The song Chinese Democracy.  It's an uptempo rocker.

Call me crazy, the versions i've heard of chinese democracy the song do not do it for me. I am sure the final version probably will. But just from the vibe of the song, I don't think this would do it. I don't find anything particularly catchy or radio friendly about it, and that's what they need to catch the mainstream audience and sell more copies. I am sure the first single is something we haven't heard yet. But this is Guns n Roses, and so any logical explanations or speculations by any of us will more than likely be wrong.

Hmmm well of the ones we've heard TWAT Better The Blues and Catcher in the rye have the most potential to be no.1 by far, so let's say they have only 3 singles, if not one of those is a single i will be very disheartened and will cry myself to sleep every night~

Chinese democracy should be the first single, without a shadow of doubt. It is an amazing song, the studio version has the potential to be amazing.

but out of the songs we have heard better i think would be the best some to put out first then TWAT or i.r.s then a balled i really like the blues and i think axl likes it to so that is a poss or CITR

I don't know if it would make a good FIRST single, but There Was A Time should be a single, in my opinion...that and The Blues. I'm not sure which should be the first single...maybe an unheard song.

The songs that do eventuate into singles need to have sexy solos, the best solo in a new gnr song so far is CITR so for me thats the best fit for a single, just fix up Axl's singing a lil bit, he throws way too much at you at once with the backing vocals >_<
