I think that axl still doesnt have a a new guy to replace bucket and thats why there is no news on there site we might not think he needs a nother guitarist but axl does. He might just bail on the tour if he cant find the right guy and thats why theres no new news.It would be sad and would be just like axl to do something like that.

I just can't see how he can bail this time around.........pretty obvious contracts have been signed......shit load of tickets sold......it'd be fuckin suicide if this tour/festival gigs was canceled.....it'd be the last straw for many fans..........and the media whores would have a field day!!! I know his past is littered with cancelations.........but even Axl I believ e now feels like it's now or fuckin never......too late already to bail........

But Axl knew Bucket wasn't going to be around all this time.  It would be ridiculous for him to commit and then look for a replacement, I don't think his plans and priorities are that backwards.  I think Slash is the replacement which is why everything is so secretive.

If this touring doesn't go well, I don't know what to say, but I will be sad for Axl if it doesn't. My gut says it's going to be cool

Axl is eccentric and bizarre at times not crazy. Slash is crazy imo there has been crazier too. He's a classic 'back peddler' no Einstein that's for damn sure.

Why do they need a 3rd guitarist?  They've got Robin Finck and Richard Fortus.  They both play lead guitar.  Richard did some nice solos on the 2002 tour.  The original GnR didn't need a 3rd guitarist.

I would agree 100 percent if robin was stronger he had a hard time with alot of the solos in 2002 i think bucket carried him most of the time but thats just what i think.

Richard Fortus seemed to nail the solos a little better than Robin.  And Buckethead was spot on perfect.

I remember hearing back in 1988 that guitar players were having a really hard time learning Slash's guitar parts from "Appetite For Destruction."  His use of chords and riffs is very unique and hard to copy.  I think because he was self taught.  Sort of like trying to emulate Hendrix.

Seemed like Robin had the hardest time copying the Use Your Illusion solos like "November Rain."  Not surprising considering Robin played with Nine Inch Nails, a band not exactly known for their blazing guitar solos.

I think this is the one problem Axl's going to run into again and again.  Finding someone to fill Slash's shoes.  It's easy to copy Matt Sorum/Steve Adler, Izzy Stradlin and Duff McKagen's parts, but Slash is a true original.  His guitar playing on "Use Your Illusion" was phenomenal.

It can't be slash now, think of how long it would take for him to learn all of the new stuff and practice with a bunch of new guys who he doesn't even know that well.  Axl needs someone who can play just as crazily as buckethead but can give it a bit more of a bluesy feel.
