it seems to me like there is really a gnr v2 slant here.  almost as if people totally forget about the albums that made gnr what gnr is.  without slash, duff, and izzy there wouldn't have been the mysticism behind the name of gnr.  no doubt axl, is the greatest frontman, singer and songwriter of all time, but the original lineup had someting that can never be replaced.  i don't know if the people here are too young to remember that time, which would be very reasonable, or are great fans of the new musicians which is again very reasonable. everone has their own opinion, mine is that you have to move forward, but in this one case you also have to be looking back as well

dood. CHINESEDEMOCRACY.com

there's a bit up there thats highlighted that may explain some of the points you mentioned. whilst most here have great respect for the now departed members this forum is, on the whole, for the new band.

it just so happens that right now there is more activity than usual from gn'r - therefore we're chatting about the future more. when it is quiet (and there has been a lot of time when it has been very quiet) we'll go back to discussing old school.

Theres no one on this board that doesnt love original line up Guns n roses, but there gone and there not coming back. We have to give the new line up a chance. But that doesnt mean that everyones forgot original line up GnR. I mean, look at all those reunion threads that pop up here every few days.

i totally understand that 2na as the band put together by axl is amazing. i'm especialy a huge fan of stinson, and i think fortus is a clone of izzy, but i also see alot of shit talking about the originals which i feel is unwarranted, again though, that's my opinion.

The Appetite lineup is indeed legendary, but sadly is probably unlikely to reunite.

people also talk alot of shit about the new guys. the fact is that people are going to insult old and new members of gn'r. if you don't like what someone says then pick them up on it.

it is a message board after all.

some of the 'new' members have been in the band longer than some of the 'old' members.

EXAMPLE:

Tommy has been in the band longer than Adler, Izzy, Tracii and Ole, all old members.

Before the leaks, the slant on most boards seemed to go the other way.....

and yeah this is CHINESEDEMOCRACY.COM!

if you can't support the new band here, where can you (well, my forum, but that's besides the point)

Places like this, and going back to the original cocksalad.com where I got my posting start, have always had the largest group of Axl and new band supporters, and I'm sure that number will only grow in the coming months.

GNR in 2006!
and all my frustration............

The new "members" aren't really in Guns N' Roses.  They are in the band in the sense that they play instruments behind Axl, that is all.  The old members were the band.  They were like a gang, you could see a real bond between the members on and off stage, what a band should be.  All the guys hung out together early on and had a lot of history together.  Slash was the lead guitarist of GNR, Buckethead played guitar for GNR.  BIG DIFFERENCE.

christ, its shakespeare people.

O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo?
Deny thy father, and refuse thy name;
Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,
And I’ll no longer be a Capulet.

...

’Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself though, not a Montague.
What’s Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O! be some other name:
What’s in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;

So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call’d,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name;
And for that name, which is no part of thee,
Take all myself.

The moral of the story? If you've got a problem with them being called Guns N' Roses just think of them as something else. The music is all the matters not the name.
