I just got a replay from Richard Fortus. This is part of the email.

To answer your question, yes, the plan is still to
release multiple records over the next few years.  Hopefully starting
in Sept.  We are currently rehearsing for our tour in Europe this
summer and the band is sounding better than ever.  Hope to see you in
September here in the states.
thanks for your continued support.

You can't believe anything the sidemen say.  We've heard all this before from Richard & Tommy.  For example:
March 2003 - Guitarist Richard Fortus at "Michael H." birthday bash show. To the question regarding the Chinese Democracy album and whether it will come out or not, he said "Yeah, Axl is finishing it up now, doing vocals-- overdubs. It's GREAT."

September 2004: Bassist Tommy Stinson states in an interview that he expects the album to be mastered in October or November.

The ironic thing is I get the sinking feeling in my gut that Chinese Democracy if done.  It's in the can.  Finished.  Many, many, many times over.  And it's been finished for probably four or five years.  It's just Axl is such a manic perfectionist that he keeps on going over the same shit again and again and again and....

I read where Jimi Hendrix used to perform up to 50 takes of songs for his never completed fourth album.  He workd on the album for nearly 2 years and never completed it to his satisfaction before his death.  The curse of being a perfectionist.  The ironic thing is several albums worth of stellar music have been created and released from those Hendrix recordings.  He thought they weren't good enough because they weren't note for note perfect.  But they went onto sell millions of copies.

What Axl needs is a fresh set of ears.  An outsider to come in and judge what he's got in the vaults.  I'm sure 9 out of 10 music fans would come in, listen to a the "demos" and say "This shit's incredible.  Way better than half the music out there now.  You owe it to yourself and the people who worked on these songs to release them ASAP.  Just to get the critical and commercial acclaim you deserve."

I think if you listen to the same song over and over again for 6 fucking years straight your gonna find flaws and imperfections and it's probably gonna sound less exciting over time.  I mean Axl has been sitting on IRS, Better, TWAT, Catcher In The Rye, The Blues and songs like that since the dawn of the new millennium.  Those songs are over six years old!

This is the same shit that held up the Use Your Illusion albums.  It's amazing "Appetite For Destruction" came out as fast as it did.  If Axl had his way he'd probably still be working on that album.  (Actually Axl did re-record AFD with the new lineup several years ago.  Talk about going off on a tangent).

And even after spending over a year working on the Use Your Illusion albums he still wasn't satisfied.  Look at this quote from early 2002:
"I gave into a lot of pressure on Illusions both internally in Guns and externally in the press, those albums suffered as a consequence, it's not something I'm too excited to have to live with again."

I think no artist is 100% satisfied with what they produce.  George Lucas said "films aren't completed.  They're abandoned."  It's like completing a term paper for college.  It may not be perfect, but there's a due and you had to finish it.

Plus many artists release albums because they need the money.  Axl doesn't.  And most record and movie companies put limits on their clients.  Meaning the film or album has to be completed by a certain date or the production loses funding and is shut down.  Geffen/Interscope has given Axl a blank check. If they 1) threatened to sue Axl for $13 million, the cost of the undelivered project 2) threatened to cancel his record contract 3)threatened to seize the tapes and release them in a fashion they sit fit... that would force Axl's hand.  And I guarantee he'd put Chinese Democracy or whatever he's calling it these days immediately.

Every artist looks back on an album, movie, painting, book or any creative work and thinks "this could have been better" or "I would have done this differently" in hindsight.   Nobody's perfect.  And you need audience feedback to gauge how you're doing.  Axl seems to have missed that point entirely.  He's basing the entire latter part of his music career and the success or failure of one fucking album.  He's forgotten that "it's only rock n roll."  It's not Shakespear.

I think Tommy, Richard, Robin and Brain are gonna give Axl one more chance.  If he doesn't put the record out and tour this year there gonna bail on him just like Slash, Duff, Matt, Paul Tobias, John Freese, Buckethead and everyone else who can't stand working in a band that doesn't release records and perform concerts.
"Welcome to McDougal's. Make I take your order p-p-p-p-p-please, please."

he should wait and use it to anounce CD release date:)

but I think it's more resonable that he'll be on his 6000 or even 7000 before the release date :crybaby:

Agreed.
I hate to agree with it but it's the truth. Now I know he's been working on this album for him,and noone else, but there is a time when you've got to let it all out. And if it's not soon more member of this band will leave.

very weird, plus if one goes to Richard's site http://www.4tus.com/
one finds this under interact:

"you can send me an e-mail at this address
please note:

this is not for asking when chinese democracy is coming out"

That would be cool, but it needs promotion. You don't jsut say the album is out today.

Also yeah do you know a different Fortus address because that one says no Chinese Democracy related questions, so why would he reply. I know this has been verifified as true but I'm still gonna be a skeptic till I hear it from Axl.

Great work Dave. Have you just got a screenshot or anything that you could show us?

Of course, we can all talk about this for weeks and weeks now, but we shouldn't get too excited until Chinese Democracy is sitting on the record store shelves. Lets enjoy the tour, and take it one step at a time.

If this is true, perhaps we could see some new material played in the summer...although not all of it will be played i guess. However, July is only 2 months before  September, so you never know. Definately 2 or 3 new ones i should imagine though.

Anyone who's going on tour should be pretty excited.

I've done music in the past, and just listening to the same song for a few hours really drains you as you hear little things that keep bugging you about it. I can't imagine how annoying it would be to listen to the same songs for years, even if you like them. You can always find something you want changed.
