My First Guns N Roses Moment
« on: May 22, 2006, 01:08:04 PM »
Want to hear about my first Guns n Roses experience?..ofcourse you do..I was 15 when it happened, I can remember it clearly as if it just happened yesterday...(place funny sounding swirly flashback music here )....I was on my porch wearing my adida shelltops and rockin' out to RunDmc when my sister came home with a 45 single..it had the GnR logo on it and it was Sweet Child O'Mine..my sister yanked me back into the house and demanded that I listen to this song...at that time I did not listen to rock n' roll I was all about my B-Boy stance and Rap songs so my first listen was not very pleasant. I looked at my sister with that sourpuss face and said 'the girl singing this song sounds weird'...'Girl?!' my sister shrieked...'this is no girl..this is Axl Rose!..' at that point she waved around a picture of some guy with red hair in my face who looked dirty and was holding a skateboard...I shrugged my shoulders and couldnt care less..                                                                           that same week I headed to see 'The Dead Pool' with a friend of mine for no other reason than to see people getting killed...I remember the scene with Jim Carrey coming on where he was portraying a rock star shooting a music video and it was for the song called............yes,everyone..Welcome to the Jungle...                             ofcourse I wouldnt have known the same group who my singer was raving about days before sang this song..but let me tell ya that song did not leave my head for a minute thus beginning the transformation of a new Guns n Roses fan..Tada!....my first Guns N Roses experience..I even lost my virginity wearing a GnR t-shirt..muahahahahaha

thats a good story

the bit at the end is definatly the best.

unfortunatly it was that long ago i don't remeber mine.

I believe it was my brother that opened the GNR door to me

brother or uncle, like i said, i don't recall

at least 13 years ago

My friend had a GNR poster on her wall and i asked her what it was she told me axl ad split the best band in the world up and that he was a dirty old prick.

We were watching Kerrang! and i saw MCR i was a big fan and i was screaming coz I thought Gerard Way was the hottest thing since sliced bread.

WTTJ came on and i just stopped and stared at the screen for all of it...Axl was hot

The music was good aswell  :paranoid:  I borrowed  Greatest Hits off her and ive never looked back since. Thats my story  :ninja: [/b]

My Dad has been a fan since they came out, so I grew up listening to them. I must have been 7 or 8 when I started actually borrowing the albums of him to listen myself. So it's all thanks to my dad.

i saw SCOM on TV and i asked my dad who it was and if he had any cd's of them... he told me it was guns and he had AFD and use your illusion 2 VHS and ritz'88 taped from TV... i was hooked immediately and didn't talk about other things... this was in 2000-2001... i remember i wanted the rock in rio 3 video so much (which i saw was on comaconcertvideos.com <- cockhead) and i got my father to contact a bootlegger he knew, and he had it... he said it sucked but i wanted it anyway... i watched it over and over, and the quality on  that tape sucked badly... about 56gen VHS tape... atleased... but the best part of it all was the birthday present i got from my father that year. in april 2001. in framed in my room a huge tour poster for the 2001 tour and inside 2 tickets for the oslo show and aswell hanging down from it UYI 1 and 2, and some shoes aswell but hey... fucking the best present ever.

I was 13 years old, and there was this school dance I went to. They played mostly shity music, but when they started to play Don't Cry (I didn't know it then) I thought, What a beautifull song, I must find out what it is! And there was this boy I really liked, and he seemed so touched by the song, he was sitting with his head in his hands and singing (he was a stupid poser. but I didn't mind then, I thought it was cool). So I got so confused and didn't manage to found out what song it was. A few weeks later, I was ironong  :) , and I was listening to some CD's my uncle gave me, and there was some gnr compilation, best ballads, or something. When Don't Cry started I recognized it imediately, I was literally speechles. I was so overwhelmed by happiness, I started screaming and jumping, I can remember the feeling even now...

it was when i first saw skateboard Adio video called One Step Beyond ... when that song come in i was just sitting and don't understand how that song rocks!!!! It was My Michelle playing there!!! I was waiting to the credits of the video, and find out that it was GN'R ... i didn't know them in that time!!!
So my friend and I went to some shop to buy AFD ... and since that I'm listening to them every day, wearing their t-shirts, collecting posters, etc...
So thank you skateboarding and thank you Adio for showing me the greatest RnR band of all time!!!
PS: I still love My Michelle most

LET'S SEE!  my long and winding story of why i'm here and why i have more posts than everyone execpt Rock Diva and 2na.

THERE WAS A TIME when this kid with a RECKLESS LIFE used to be a NICE BOY and a BETTER person.  THERE WAS A TIME when i listened to fairly boring music.  anywho, i heard WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE and i'm like d00d this sucks!  Axl sounded like a DEAD HORSE or mabye a PROSTITUTE with his orgasming in that song (much like in ROCKET QUEEN or MY WORLD).  anywho, i stayed away from Guns like a SILKWORM stays away from a raging LOCOMOTIVE.

back on topic...uhh...so my dad was a huge GN'R fan back in the day, and when they decided to MOVE TO THE CITY of Chicago, i was forced to go.  sooooooooo...i went, and it was probably one of the best concerts ever.  it was a true PERFECT CRIME on my dad's part, because he probably figured i'd like it.

anyway, after the concert, i kinda went on a Guns BREAKDOWN and didn't listen to them for a while.

then i got Use Your Illusion II for something (i can't recall for what, i was probably PRETTY TIED UP at the time.) and i said, 'GN'R! YOU COULD BE MINE!  actually, you SHOULD be mine!'.

so then after a year or so, i joined the boards and here i am now.

DON'T DAMN ME for not liking Guns right away, shit happens when you party naked.

peace

Somewhere between 7-8 years old I was on my way to a local store to spend my allowence with some friends. As we walked behind an appartment building, there was a song being blared from one of the balcony's. "Take me down to the Paradise City..." I stopped my friends and had them listen. I then counted the balcony it was coming from as there was a guy standing there with a bandanna around his head. I went up and asked him what he was playing..Then and there is where it all started. I've been a huge fan for better than half of my life now.

I'm dying to catch my breath, oh why don't I ever learn, I've lost all my trust, though I have surely tried to turn it around... can you still see the heart of me?
