12 Midday

Sniffed out some juicy backstage rumours. Apparently Kid Rock is confirmed to join Guns N' Roses tomorrow night. In other GNR-related news, I hear we may also be joined today by my old mucker Duff McCagan. He has been joining Alice in Chains at some of their US dates and they're on the main stage here today...

I think you need to work on your reading comprehension.  All he is saying there is that Duff may be playing with Alice in Chains... not that he will play with GnR.

I do hope he plays a song or two though.  It would be one more possible link to a reunion.

If there's bad blood between them you better believe they can find a way to ignore each other. Especially Axl with his Houdini disappearing act he does.

As much as I want it to happen I wish people would quit mentioning a reunion. It will not happen. Not untill Axl changes his personality and we all know that hasn't happend yet.

Who cares about a reunion??!!!  The new line-up is great and is much better technically than the original group.  I'm looking forward to hearing the new group do more new material.

I don't need a reunion.  The old line-up is from a different era musically speaking.  These new guys are cutting edge and I think they can surpass the old GNR with their song writing.

How can you say that with a straight face and still consider yourself a true GnR fan.  There would BE no GnR without the old lineup.  WHO CARES about 'technique'?  GnR has NEVER been about technique.  They were about BALLS and SOULD.  The songs, the band, the sound, the status, the LEGEND, simply wouldn't exist.  There were plenty of technically proficient bands back then, but you don't know shit about them because they just weren't GnR!  They didn't have that chemistry, which no matter what anyone thinks... is NOT something you can manufacture.

Yeah... because they've written so much material already in their careers that rivals or comes close to rivaling the original GnR's material.  And don't give me "well, Robin Fink wrote 'Better'"... because that song is mediocre at best, and barely holds up to the weakest GnR material.  It is DEFINATELY not the kind of songwriting that will light the world on fire like the old GnR songs did.  If you believe otherwise, you really have no clue about songwriting, or the kind of unique talent it takes to write a great song.

They will not come CLOSE to the status (ESPECIALLY in the songwriting department) as the original GnR.  You are in for a rude awakening if you think you are going to see world domination of this band like those of us did who were actually old enough to enjoy it the first time around.

I'VE JUST DONE IT!  I've realized why the youngsters (which I can already tell you are at the most 21) are constantly saying "The new line up is better, and they will be huge and write just as great songs as the old line up"... it's because you didn't SEE it the first time around... you didn't LIVE it!  So you want SOOOO badly to experience it that you convince yourself that it will happen again, and you think just by saying it will be so will make it so.

Well, I'm sorry to bust your bubble, but it won't.  You don't quite get how special, and what an anomily it was the first time around.  How out of nowhere it happened.

I know you won't admit it, and you'll all gang up on me now (like usual) but if you're honest with yourself, you know it's true.  Even though the leaks are enjoyable, if you are TRUELY a fan of the old band's music (which, if you are a GnR fan, you MUST be, otherwise, how do you call yourself a fan) and you compare them honestly and without bias and the hope that you have for this new band, you have to admit that the songs, though good, fall short compared to the old material... ESPECIALLY the big gund (SCOM, WTTJ, NR, COMA, etc. etc.) and the chemistry between Axl's voice and Slash's leads that helped skyrocket them to the top of the top is simply not there, and it NEEDS it... it MISSES it.

Search your feelings... admit it youngsters... you know this to be the truth.
