Safest bet to pull a good solo?
« on: August 05, 2006, 08:29:00 PM »
In my opinion bumblefoot from what I heard is the safest and most reliable out of all of them to dont go of one one and stray to far away from the original sounding solos...for example  when he finishes november rain and the other guys do the middle solos......ron seems to hit it everytime  were as fortus and fink go of on one.....who do you think is the safest player not to fuck up......p.s ron rules but please less of the nitendo sounds  :unibrow:

fortus, but thats mainly due to the fact that he gets the shanny solos in the less rampaging songs so they are easier to play and more difficult to alter.

still, i like when any players deviates from the original so long as it still sounds good.

You said you think ron generally keeps it tightest, this is probably due to the fact that hes only been in the band a short time. Listen to early buckethead renditions (they effectively play the same bits), at first they were pretty close to the originals (obviosusly in a bucket style) by the end of the '02 they had evolved. The same will happen with ron.

I'd almost agree that Ron is the closest to performing the original solos, I was surprised as he's a shredder by trade...

Too play them note for note would be ridiculous and I find it insulting that people would want it that way. Let them explore and expand from the originals, give them new life, a new sound, make them exciting again. Don't try and make them a cover/tribute band... They need to make these songs their own, which I think they have done a good job of already.

Or they could keep the songs the same way.  You know, the way that sold millions of records.

Or you could listen to the albums. The live stage is where artists are supposed to deviate from the studio sound, expand, expirement, change, jam, w.e.
