Were you supportive from the beginning?
« on: August 22, 2006, 12:38:57 PM »
A lot of people that i know like Guns N'Roses very much but only their late 80's early 90's era. But most of people here probably weren't old enough to experience Guns N'Roses in that time.
but we're all around in this new era of Guns and i'm asking when did you first see the new line-up?
i was watching TV one day in 2001 and there was Rock In Rio III and i had a tape inside just in case... and the i see it... GUNS N'ROSES....
i didn't know the band, just Axl and Dizzy but i fell in love right away.
the first song was Mr. Brownstone and when Axl and Robin sang together "i used to do a little but a little..." i instantly had my second favourite member. i kinda miss the freaky NIN style he had....
the moment i saw them i was the most exited person in the world even though everyone were bashing Axl for what he's doing but i stuck with it and it's worth it...
how did you experience the new guns?

ever since I got the internet connection, I started checking out the GNR sites. Back then I only knew of few. and most of the news were on www.lostrose.com
when end of days I went to gnronline, downloaded the 30 second clip of OMG and tought... "hm, the album must be coming out soon."

so I joined the gnr news group, and stayed there.

in 2001 when Las Vegas happened I downloaded the mp3s from www.lostrose.com
when rir3 happened I joined CD.com  and have been here ever since.

2 weeks later, I wrote an article for the school papers saying how much the new band rocks. I also said "album release date set for june 26th 2001" :D

I must have joined 50+ GNR forums over the years...
Finck... you fag!  :( why did you have to go...?

I am old enough..and have always been supportive. A lot of these people never experienced Guns at their peak when they were old enough to appreciate it. It seems to be coming aroung again so everyone will be able to have that experience. I started listening to them when I was in 7th grade....1987.

I first saw Guns at the 2002 mtv awards, Didnt know who they were but I liked em, I was about 12, Didnt understand most stuff so I didnt remember em, Until my uncle got me onti em...I loved "sweet child o' mine" blasted the same song for a couple days, until My parents told me to play something else, So I bought Appetite and then I listened to ALL of em, Anything Goes my favorite right away. And then I downloaded some boots then I got the 2002 awards than right away I remembered. So It was pretty awesome the way got into em.

I was amazed in 2001 when I heard that my favourite band, that I hadn't heard about in 8 years, is back. I got a piece of The Blues from RIR3, I pretty liked it. then in 2002 I got some stuff from Leeds02 and started to like it. I also found some nice fan websites. then at the beginning of 2004 I found P2P networks and started collecting bootlegs, I got RIR3 video first. I'm hardcore newgnr supporter since then

longish read so..... sorry :paranoid:

my dad brought GH in 04? i kinda stole it and liked SCOM and PC. That CD then became my favourite CD. Programs like "greatest bands ever" or best albums ever on channel 4 kept poping up and they always talked about GNR's controvesy and Axl.

So i got on the web in early 05/late 04 maybe and came across HTGTH. It had stuff i didnt understand but soon  figured that GNR where still around. I thought they were dead or something!   Anyway, came across some other sites that talked about madagascar and "new" GNR.

Then i started to learn that they were around, recording a new album and had toured a couple of years ago. found cocksalad.com and downloaded some vids - WTTJ from Rio!!!! and it all started from there. oh, and i got hold of boots of maddy etc... from there and loved em!!

i've probably missed some bits and bobs but you get the jist!

Honestly, I can say I was rather skeptical about the new band.  Not like a "It's not GN'R without Slash" kind of skeptical; more like a "Can they actually pull off the old stuff without sounding too different or similar?". I hadn't heard any of their playing and kept wondering if they really could capture the feel of the songs that I had loved from the old lineup while still adding their own feel to the performance.  I heard a really low quality recording of November Rain from a 2001 performance, and had my doubts.  Same thing when I decided to try out the distorted demo of I.R.S. that leaked last year, but I decided that I needed a clear recording of the band before I made my mind up.  Downloaded a soundboard version of The Blues from Pittsburgh, and fell in love with the band's playing.  I then did research on the individual members in the new lineup and between the raw emotion of Finck's playing and the bizarreness of Buckethead, I rediscovered my favorite band.

For any new fans that want to see the old band at there best.....try to get some bootlegs from the skin n bones tour IN 1993. The band as a whole played absolutely incredible and Axl was a much better SINGER during that tour. His voice changed from year to year but I liked how he sounded in 93. He just sang the songs better in more of a consistent manner. He never had a night during that tour when his voice was fucked up as opposed to half the shows in 91 and some of them in 92. He always sounded amazing and was 2nd to none. If you don't agree then you are just not paying attention.

i heard sweet child many times.. then at a shitty stall, i bought a copied greatest hits.. never listened to anything apart from sweet child until my cousin went and bought the real GH.. he told me a few songs to listen to.. and then i was hooked.. after i had all the albums and many singles i bought the real GH, just for the sake of it.. i havent even opened it yet.

as for the old copied cd i bought in 2004.. my seven year old little brother never stops listening to it

and thats my story

Fuck, did type it all explaining but I just lost it so here goes again. Shortened down.

Heard SCOM about 2 years ago, got hooked and downloaded it. Played it non-stop.

Heard So Fine and Perfect Crime, loved So Fine but hated Perfect Crime.

Saw PC on the music channels I think Kerrang, fell in love completely. My friend sent me it. Played it non-stop.

Borrowed GH and AFD of two of my friends and got hooked even more. Started researching some stuff about the band like finding out what the story was.

Joined up here late 2005 and the ball started rolling again early 2006 with Axl back again.

Now i've got all the albums 'cept Live Era, but i've got most of the tracks anyway.

Fell in love with Axl when I was just 12.........about 19 years ago!!!!!!!
loved him then and loved him ever since. The originals were excellent but to me AXL is GNR. Like my friends say he could take a shit on stage and i'd think it was amazing! Just obsessed by the guy I guess!!!
