that's why Axl is perfectionism. he examines everything so well in a long period to make the most ideal thing. this is not only for the album but even for his hair. and now you see in 2006 he finally finds the most suitable style for himself.

Its weird, like at Rock am ring. It think at the time he couldnt hit the high notes in "the blues" because he couldnt get the rough sound to his voice, so he kind of compromised instead of singing it without the rough sound like in 2002. Hard to explain, but I think its just to do with like you say, his perfection thing.

Man, look at his face...he really didn't want to be there.  Kinda lends credibility to his claim that he was kinda forced into the 2002 tour and did it only as a way to get the band to gel together better.  All his impromptu photos from this past tour have been much warmer and "happier".  He's definitely found his comfort zone.
