What is everybody's favorite gnr performance that they have seen live, on tv, or heard a bootleg of?

Mine is them at the ritz in 88. There is a rawness to this concert that is incredable. Even though it isn't very long the band nails every song and Axl sounds great. Axl tells the storys behind out ta get me, sweet child o' mine, my michelle, welcome to the jungle, and knockin' on heavens door. This concert is riviting, It should be available on cd and dvd! I highly recomend it to all gnr fans.

They didn't mees up any solos real bad and what made it such a great show was the fucking energy that was there and Axl really gave a kick ass performance and they played TWAT

Ritz 88 because of the timing and the raw energy

and

Deer Creek 01 b/c it was on the UYI tour before the discs were released.

I saw them in Toronto the same week as Deer Creek and everyone was booing the new songs. Axl then told everyone to enjoy the new songs b/c we will be screaming to hear them.

I would say that he was correct.

My opinion is that raw energy is what makes a show.

I was at Hammerstein on the 14th 2nd row and it was by far my most memorable but very far from the best. If the 12th show was your favorite then you are missing out on a lot of other shows that are 200 times better.

I've never seen them live...   :(  ...yet.   ;)

And I've only ever seen the 02/02/88 Ritz show (which I used to have on VHS, dubbed for me by a friend who had MTV back when it aired on that channel), the UYI videos (which I still have on VHS), and various short clips.

I know my exposure to live GNR is limited, but I agree with you on that Ritz show.  I recently found bits and pieces of it on YouTube and, MAN!, what I wouldn't give to have been front and center at that show!...even though I was only 14 at the time.  I appreciate it much more now than I do then, and I too wish it would be "officially" released.

[EDIT: Oops, I was 13 -- it took place exactly 4 weeks before my 14th birthday.]

i love the ritz 88, but my favorite is Paris '92, 2.5+ hour setlist, joe perry/steven tyler with mama kin, and lenny kravitz.

also Chicago '92, 3 hour setlist, including coma and estranged live
