The only real benefit of catching him now would be for america to look good.

I think the liberation of Iraq is a huge joke. They caught Sadam - yay!

Iraq aint liberated, and the Sadam trial seems to be a dead ender, but as long as Bush can say they caught him, then i guess he will be reinstated as president next elections too!

"trophy catch" sums it up perfectly.

Also if you look at the timings of video/tape releases by al-jazeera, they seem to come at very bad times for America (after/used to instigate violent periods in Iraq), whereas America often uses timings of releases for political leverage.

Hence the reason why Bush asked Blair if he would support bombing al-jazeera broadcasting headquarters. Thankfully, Blair told him that it would be ridiculous to bomb them.
