what a dumbass, I know how disrespectful that probably sounds and all and I know it's incredibly selfless and everything and the guy most probably saved some other people's lives, but where's his self-preservation instincts? if someone threw a grenade at me I'd be getting as far away from it as possible before it blew up. Someone oughta tell people they can't underestimate the value of their own lives, you only get one after all

That's what they're trained to do, they put their lives in each others hands.

To us normal people our 1st thought is run like fuck. It just goes to show how very intense training can change even our primal instincts.

You. First of all where in their training do they learn how to jump ON a bomb, is it the "how to jump on a bomb" course? I bet that goes down well. I thought the troops are trained to launch bombs from hundreds of miles away like little pussies. Second of all where's the proof that this guy did it on purpose? I want actual evidence. In all probability he was either hit by it or he fell on it and the marines just made up a heroic tale to honour their dead buddy.

I agree with you. But i think its more important to honour a lucky accident than try and pick holes in it. Whether he meant to or not this guy saved some lives and that is the important thing.

Oh and i saw that he was a sniper. So his job was to shoot people from hundreds of metres away. Wow what a fucking hero. Well he got his in the end. Unlucky accident? No. Hero? Not a fucking chance.

ok smartass, you know what i'm saying. They're trained to be soldiers first and selfish humans second. you wouldn't be a very good soldier if you let four (or whatever) people die just to save yourself. I personally would have ran like hell, but i'm not a soldier and i'll never be in Iraq.

as much as I disagree with what badman's saying too, I have to point out that you're not very much good to anyone as a soldier if you're dead either

that's true, but losing one soldier to save more than one makes more sense. ideally i'm sure they would have liked to save them all
