Are you guys economists or music fans?
« on: October 19, 2006, 04:08:55 PM »
I hope to God Chinese Democracy is not promoted.  Why?  Musical integrity.

Think about it, why do you guys care if CD sells well?  Axl has more than enough money, if he doesn't bother promoting this then it's obvious that he's not going to base his decision to make a follow up on sales.  It also means he's only releasing the album for his loyal fans.

It'd be a bold statement in the face of a corrupt, commercially dominated music industry by a rather unlikely, but perfect band.

Seriously, stop thinking about CD competing in the mainstream music scene, fighting for no.1 in the charts, selling enough to make a profit etc.  What are you?  Economists?

As long as you have CD in your hands c. Nov. 21st could you honestly give a fuck what anyone else thinks of it or how much it has sold?

It's about the music, man.....

that post doesn't makes sense, look, the record label has to release this record now to make back the money they've put into it, but if it doesn't sell, they're perfectly entitled to drop guns, for the band to be able to continue after cd comes out, they need it to sell, no matter how high and mighty you want to get about it, the fact is no record label's gonna want to release anything by a band that spends millions of dollars making cd's no-one buys

Hey, you're right.  I'm not a music fan.  Strictly an economist.

Yeah, cos there's no way in hell Axl would be able to release an album without a record label.....

Funny topic!

Well, I really want it to sell just like the old records so there won't be any shitty fuck sayin' "oh the album didn't sell so well as Appetite". And I want Axl n' the band happy n' I think they want to make it big.

Besides this two issues, I don't think much 'bout it.

Well, personally, I do care what other people think about it.

I want CD to be the talk of the music industry and the general public instead of being 'just another album'.

If that makes me an economist, so be it. (shrug)

Is that a joke or a display of ignorance?

Loads of bands release albums on their own labels, it's actually very common amongst older bands who are famous but no longer in the spotlight.

I don't know, it was just some random shit, sorry man. I see your point, but the question is, Would Axl have the time to have his own recordlabel, And if any other bands wants to get signed, would they be able to handle Axl's perfectionism? I don't know, But then again, "We're in it for the music".

Lol, Axl?  Have time?  Well he could take time out of his hectic schedule of partying between touring I guess....

And other bands wouldn't have to get signed, it'd just be for the sake of releasing GNR albums.

I don't think Geffen would drop them anyway, so not really much point in discussing it, but it's not like it's inconceivable that Axl would release an album on his own record label.
