Check this website out, apple is trying to sell this new Red nano for 200 and they say they are going to donate 10 dollars to the aids foundation.

How cheap can a company get, they are using a foundation to make sales, and they say that they are helping by only giving 10 out of 200 dollars a person spends on the ipod.

Apple has reaced a new low for using an organization so important to help boosts sales. :angry:

I don't get what the problem is with this at all, the usual 4gb ipod sells for $199, the red 1 sells for $199 with $10 of each sale going to a good cause, what can possibly be bad about that? Apple isn't a charity, they're a business, their aim is to make money, they're not obliged to give anything away, the fact that they are should be applauded, not attacked as some sort of cynical cashgrabbing scheme

but if a regular 4gb nano is $199 and this is $199 that means apple is losing $10 per sale. plus RED are getting money and publicity from it which is never a bad thing when charities are involved.

i don't think Steve Jobs would try and screw over a charity.

i think there is nothing wrong with it. people who were going to get a nano anyways will get the red one and help out a charity, its not like it costs $10 more. they didn't have to do it at all, but then you would have nothing to bitch about

ipod are actually comparable in price to other players of the same size. i've had one for three years and i love it, but i'd probably be happy with whatever player i had

But think of how high sales would be once people see the word "charity" attached to it. They're making more money out of the Red campaign than the Red campaign could ever hope to make out of them, so hell YES they should give more.

Now take a look at what American express is giving to the Red campaign in Africa for taking out their Red Visa - 1% of your total spend. ONE PER CENT. Who the fuck is ONE PERCENT going to save ?

That's not all ! If you spend more than Ã‚£5,000, they increase this to - 1.25% !!! Greedy pigs.

At least Gap are giving half the price of all their Project Red t-shirts to the AIDS foundation.

By the way, yes this is more than average Joe is doing for the Red campaign, but then again average Joe isn't a multi-billion pound industry to whom $10 is fucking nothing per equipment.
