« on: October 28, 2006, 02:09:09 PM »
Now, when Axl has his old voice, when they at last look like a band...should they play OMG? It's hard song to play but it's great (for me) hard, heavy, fast...i love it but last time they played it was...hmh...RIR3?

it's not a leak or a demo it was a proper release on the soundtrack of The End Of Days

Axl, or someone in the band, said that it was an uncompleted demo.

And The last time they played the whole song was in House of Blues 31/12-01 , they played the intro in Osaka 2002 as a joke.

And yeah, they should play it, it's a great song that deserves to be heard live again.

Ooh, well its on with the show
Like the tide down on the ocean
The waves already set in motion
The only one in the game that's lost is you

I have high hopes that he's in much better shape and could tackle a song like "Oh My God." -- I'm a huge GNR fan, but 2001 was some really scary stuff.  I'm really proud of him for getting it togther.  Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Oh My God is great, lyrically - I'm not really a fan of the overly-compressed version on the "Oh My God" soundtrack.

I think the reason it's taken a long time for him to recreate himself is because he wasn't sure what he wanted to sound like and how to create - because of that, there's a lot more going on in '"h My God" then probably needs to be.

I do love the song.  He's made us all 'believe' again, and that's worth a lot.  For me, what seperated Guns n' Roses from the rest of the bands was the Use Your Illusions.  Appetite was legendary; the Illusions gave them depth.

Had they released 4 reinventions of Appetite, it may have really taken away from what they created - it would have become a parody of itself.  I'm song writer, too, and the first album I released is always shoved in my face as 'the best.'  But, it's not that the album is great, because it's 'not' -- it's because people associate the memories they have with those tunes and that time.

"Don't Damn Me," "Coma," "Get in The Ring," "Locomotive," & "Don't Cry" are my favorite tunes from the illusions.

The only reason "The Spaghetti Incident" got the ole' rusty nail is because 'alternative' was enveloping a lot of the music that pre-dated it.  The alternative movement wanted to pigeonhole GNR as hair-rock and showy - in my opinion, the fact that they released it, is a true testament to a broader vision.

LIES was awesome!  It's just about as pure as you can get.  These days, with YOU TUBE, I appreciate it ever more.

The LIVE album was a bit disappointing -- some of it was good -- but, I know they've performed some of those songs A LOT better -- but, maybe it was more disappointing because I had been waiting, like the rest of you, for Chinese Democracy.

Frankly -- as much as I love all of these albums -- I do not want to hear a wannabe Appetite, a wannabe Illusions, a wannabe Lies or a bunch of cover tunes -- I want to hear a new evolution of the band.  I would be incredibly turned off to hear 13 "Shadows of Your Love" -- it's awesome music, but it's 2006 and I know he's got something fresh in the cooker!

Whether he releases the album November 21 or he waits until he's gone and lets the record company release album-after-album, -- it's ultimatly his decision.

I'm really excited to see the show on the 13th.  I was one of the lucky few in the Philadelphis riot :sarcasm.:

Guns n' Roses will always be a legendary band - even if Chinese is not what we all hope it will be -- but, judging by the demos -- it's already a classic.  Hell, it's a classic even it's the next St. Anger.

No fear all, the album will be in our greasy hands - adventually.  It's because Axl chose the road that he chose that he has become such a mysterious enigmatic icon.  He's an original.

There's a lot of great music out there - luckily the industry was too jaded/coporate to take a chance on something like GUNS - at the time.

The toughest thing about holding a band together is balancing everyone's 'wants.'  Ultimatly there has to be a leader.  When the leader loses control - the battle begins, egos collide and the simplist argument becomes catastrophic.

For anyone aspiring the 'rock n' roll' road - take comfort in the fact that their is NO market for it and labels aren't signing it - hopefully Mr. Rose can re-open some of the doors to allow another 'heir to the throne.'

All music has its place -- but, rock n' roll needs to be supercharged.  Right now, it's like the glam days -- Emo and Pop Punk/Entertaining bands are ruling the airwaves.  There is some merit to this music - after all - sometimes you just want to bounce your head and be 'free spirited' -- but, ultimatly we need to bring depth, creativity and originality back onto mainstream radio.

Ok - enough!

Lookin' forward to sharing Chinese Democracy with you; which is a reference, in my estimate to the way the youth were treated when they rose up in a riot back in the 90's --

Cheers!

I hit sent before I got a chance to proofread it -- ignore grammar the and stupid mistakes like the "OH MY GOD" soundtrack instead of "THE END OF DAYS" soundtrack.
