Theme and theory behind setlist regarding Illusion songs
« on: November 04, 2006, 12:12:45 AM »
So far GnR has not played any songs that are co-written by Slash.  Only songs by either Rose or Izzy.  Since Izzy played a show over in Europe with GnR not to surprised by this.  So in staying with this theory.  Songs that have a chance of being played are:

1.  Don't Cry
2.  You aint the first
3.  Double talkin jive
4.  Dead Hourse
5.  Pretty Tied up
6.  Estranged
7.  My World

I do not have the cover for UYLII so might be a few I am missing.  Also Axl can prove me wrong by playing Perfect Crime Which was shown to be on a possible alt set list however until they play it on this tour my little old theory stand up...I  think

It'll be to Chris Pitman as Don't Cry is to Ron.    I'm dead serious, I actually want to know what a Chris Pitman version of My World would sound like.  He's a genius in the studio (the production on the Lusk album is incredible!) and I think could make My World something amazing.

That said, by your logic, Estranged shouldn't be considered, since Slash was thanked for the guitar melodies.  It's not exactly the same as a writing credit, but you can't deny that he did a masterful job in helping to shape that song.  Would want to hear what Guns N' Roses would do with Estranged now in 2006, though.  Knowing what these guys are capable of, it's a safe bet that Estranged would sound better than ever.

I don't think it has something to do with Slash because there are songs from Appetite that Slash co-wrote too.

Dude they've played it everywhere, But it was just Ron who was soloing on it...Axl hasn't sung it, nor have the band played it together live... :(

Can't wait for an Axl interview in which he confirms the theory that, Axl, being the dictator he is, actually choreographed/composed those solo's.

lol...
I was just wondering about these theories and since they played new songs, maybe they can use the options on the setlist now because they'are more confidents.
It would be cool to listen to the old version of Knockin' On Heavens' Door too. I understand that they're tryin' to get closer to Dylans', but I really like the GNR way on this one. :crybaby:
I'll be waiting here, alone, while you do what you wanna do
