How do you explain the tens of thousands of bodies that were discovered in mass graves if it was such a peaceful country?  The only difference between then and now is that the murder went on in the dark of night, unreported by the media.

There is no denying whatsoever that Saddam was a tyrant murderer. The murder of the Kurds happened when he first came into power and afterwards his terror was systematic. Compare that to the situation now - between 47,400 and 52,642 civilians have been killed so far in this war spanning three years, started to no aim by America. By criticising America, I'm not condoning Saddam's regime, but merely making a comparison which is that back then people stepped out their front doors with the certainty that they weren't going to be blown to fucking smithereens today by a random US missile or terrorist faction car bomb.

And the Kurdish murders were reported widely by the media.
