I can't imagine he did this on his own will.  I can only imagine that bush asked him to resign considering about a month ago he said he was in it 'till the end.

That may be.  However, I have a logical fact based paper that backs me up that I wrote for International Relations.  I'll pull it up for you if I can find it but  no such luck as of now.

First, I'm a dude.

Second Donald Rumsfeld lacks key characteristics needed to be a great military tactician.

During his time as defense secretary he has shown to be incompetent. He would not send any more troops or invest any more money leaving US forces poorly supplied therefore putting them in unneccesary danger.

His aggressive foreign policy has caused thousands of deaths in the middle east on both sides. These could have been avoided.

In his time as defense secretary he ignored key intelligence from 4 top military generals and advisors causing them to quit at massively important times..... Even that general Wesley (forget his surname) is now a democrat.
