At least VR released an album.  And I enjoyed it.  Their 2nd album will be out before Chinese Democracy.  Plus VR didn't take 14 years to record the album, so you really couldn't compare the two, even if Chinese Democracy does come out.  Slither owns Chinese Democracy, and Fall to Pieces is better than the Blues.

I like VR, and the album is pretty good, slightly generic, but a good rock record nonetheless.

Scott has nothing on Axl. I think even he knows that.

Axl is a much better singer than Scott but Slash is the best guitarist. But my heart is with Guns N' Roses. You can't beat the old Slash solos.

That was always the bottom line for me too.  The old GNR is better than Velvet Revolver and the New GNR.  AXL + SLASH = best rock you'll ever hear.

From what I heard VR gave a recording to Rick Rubin and he told them to go and redo it because it was garbage.  Probably why they dropped him.
Interesting, did Rubin produced some of Def Leppard's albums? I know he produced some hip hop cds. The guy's pretty well known, tho I don't know how well he gets along with musicians. Not with VR, obviously!

i think Axl & Slash are right up there with Jagger & Richards and Tyler & Perry as far as frontman guitarist combos go

The bands are completely different, and until we get an actual studio album from the new GNR we dont really have a basis for comparison. Obviously the old GNR is better because it had enough talent for 2 or 3 bands

i think that rick rubin is still working on the record, no one has said anything about him being dropped.  Matt just said in his blog that they went into pre-production with Brendan OBrien.  from what i know he works with rubin alot.  so he might be preping the band since rubin is busy with metallica

u guys didnt get it.... i was not comparing the band.... i was just saying that guns n roses.... are not guns n roses anymore.... so people cant compare this new version of guns n roses (thinkin about the old one) with velvet revolver..... u have to compare the actual band.... the new band.. which means velvet revolver is beating them by miles.... cause they started later and they're already working on a second album...

and what i was also saying is that i think AXL is afraid of releasing his album at the same time of velvet revolver's one... because they're an  established band... and they already got accepted by the overall audience.... and he doesnt know how people will react to his chinese democracy cd....
and i think once the cd comes out.... its for sure.. gonna be a target of comparisons with velvet revolver... cause the band has guns n roses original members even thought the style is completely different...

and btw i wouldnt be suprised if VR had their album ready and they're just waiting for AXL to release his... to try to screw axl in sales... which wouldnt work at least for the next 2 albums... i believe people after two new gnr albums.... the Name Guns n roses will drastically come down... even though chinese democracy sounds so good... at least the demos...

because its not gnr anymore... thats the truth... its Axl and a whole new line up.. thats what it is...

A band that was once compared to metallica and rolling stones and all those great legend bands.... its now gonna be compared to korn.. or bands that are still good but did not achieved the status of legends....

true.  but people will probably still remember them as two different bands, even though they have the same name.  just like Ozzy era and Dio era Black Sabbath.  they are both good, but Ozzy Black Sabbath is the Sabbath, the classic lineup.

The old GNR line-up will always be called "the" line-up and the new line-up will get compared a hell of a lot to the old line up.
