GNR have a huge apeal to people who like things like the rolling stones or indie kids into oasis, stone roses, the fucking beatles etc etc.

Better is gonna totaly alienate alot of people except metal heads. So I really hope this isnt the first single!!

I actually think it will be the opposite. The metal heads will hate it, but mainstream will love it. Based on everybody who i've played it to (people who don't have any real affection for GN'R), they've all loved it. In concert reviews, it's always been Better that has been praised out of the new tracks. RS said it was one of the best Axl had ever written.

But Slash wouldn't EVER play music like the new songs... which is why he is gone.  And the reason why Snakepit and VR were created.

Yeah I Think he would play songs like that. I don't think he would come up with a tune like better. As far as The Blues, TWAT, And Maddy they have a kind of Slash feel as for the long sustained notes and stuff.  I think those songs are really comparible to Estranged november rain type stuff. And Axl almost had Slash going down that path artistically, but then enters other guitarists and egoes kicked in from both Axl AND Slash.

hey a song is written by all band members and if Axl didn't liked the guitar part of Slash on "better" he would change it,improve it, modify, it wasn't the 1st time. and to those who say Slash is a uncreative guitar player go listen to NR solos, which the new guys can't play like they should, go listen to estranged which was never that huge song if it wasn't for Slash's work, go listen to locomotive,coma,dead horse, double talkin', paradise city, scom. go remember what Guns stand for.

I totally agree and I do Love the new band and accept it but it's not only NR they make a mess of, IMO They Fucked up the solos in YCBM SCOM and Nightrain in halifax I was there I heard it. Although the average listener wouldn't really notice a difference and it is nice that Finck does his little thing on it, BUT SOMEBODY NEEDS TO TELL RON TO GIVE UP ON THE FUCKIN TAPPING IN YCBM AND NIGHTRAIN!!!!!!!!! BTW I'd love to see SLash come back to GNR and keep Finck and get rid of BF and Fortus.

i disagree with that.  there are some good riffs on contraband.  but i wish there were more solos.  if you watch the VR inside out VH1 thing, alot of the stuff they were jamming with before they had a singer was really cool, and way better than alot of what made contraband.  i'd say that if the 2nd VR album isn't a significant improvment on contraband, then you can write off slash, but not yet.
