Hard Rock and Heavy Metal

Why  some guys out there say that GUNS N ROSES (original Band) where Heavy Metal. As far As I know Areosmith, Motley Crue, Van Halen, GNR, Poison, and all that bands where Hard Rockr, And we had bands like  Metallica, Megadeath, Anthrax , they fall right in the Heavy Metal category. So why is so many people think that GNR is Heavy Metal. Do you know whats the difference between the two styles?'???



Other thing Watch this vid of Hollywood Rose .....lol man Axl looks so young right there



Also looks this GUNS N ROSES......band ....they are not the original but sure they fooled me

GN'R is a Rock band.

They aren't "Metal". They aren't even completely Hard-Rock. I think GN'R is a melting pot of many influences like blues, rock, punk, metal, pop, ballads etc... and at the end of the day, when you sum-up,  it's definitely Rock music.

Well it's all your definition of metal, Motley Crue were metal at there time or charecterized as Hair Metal, and AFD was definatly a mix of metal and punk.

When I saw Heavy the story of Metal they listed GNR as Hair Metal, Poison as Glam Metal, Van Halen as Teeth Metal but... I don't know.
I think that the person whom said they're a mix of styles is right

Well I didn't hear about this before. But they said that Teeth Metal came after Heavy Metal (I'm not 100% sure as I missed some parts of the documentary)
In opposition to the "dark" bands like Black Sabbath, the guys of Teeth Metal bands were smiling all the time (showing their teeth) like Van Halen.

Don't know if it's accurate info, just what I've heard. It was a VH1 program, probably it's somewhere in the web.

Edit: BTW the GNR chapter was awsome!

Do you have any links, Ive been looking that in youtube, but nothing. It appears only Alice Cooper, Led Zepelin, Black Sabbath, Kiss and thats it. No GNR

gnr is hard rock,  that said, what's this obsession with catagorizing them, they rock, and are good music, we all enjoy them, thats all that matters.  

and thank god for slash, duff, and adler, Hollywood Rose sucks. :D

Tronx: I think I saw the videos in VH1 website
The name of the documentary is "Heavy the story of Metal"
It was very interesting!
I'd like to buy a dvd if there's one I think it worth

Edit: it starts with Iommy's accident that derived into the first Heavy Metal riffs. Awsome story!
