what could of happen

If insted of AXL getting a new band, keeping the same name all that, like what happend. What if Slash, Duff, Gilby, Matt, Dizzy could of just fired AxL and keep the name of Guns n ROses with another similar frontman like AxL or at least a similar voice?

what would happen if that did happend?  would it be the same response fron the fans like the new version is getting or it would suck ass?

Axl = GNR.

He is a very charismatic frontman, and see, a lot of people know Slash, as a guitarist, but twice as much know Axl as a crazy, wicked motherfucker... And wicked motherfuckers sell better than top-hatted guitarists, and he indeed WAS and IS the face of GNR... Even though I just love Slash, it wouldn't be GNR without Axl. And, not talking about the fact, you can't really replac a lead singer without losing the identity of the band.

Only counterexample is ACDC

I agree. Slash and the boys are replaceable, Axl isn't. Some bands are very much defined by their frontman. Axl is GNR. Layne Staley was AIC, although Cantrell was more of the band than usual guitar players. James Hetfield is Metallica.

Some counter examples. Van Halen. ACDC.

If Slash was replaceable, then Velvet Revolver wouldnt be this successful.
Furthermore, the very fact that Velvet Revolver has had this many hit singles so far, and a hit album only shows that Axl is the one who is replaceable.

Velvet Revolver is not THIS successful.
I think the only reason why most people listen to that band is because they're former GNR members. The music isn't bad but the singer sucks  :puke:

Axl is not gnr!

but his voice is unique and key to the gnr sound.  it wouldn't have worked, and I don't think that slash, duff or anyone would have ever tried to replace axl.  and whats the point of these crazy hypothetical questions in the GNR 2006 section?

Scott Weiland and promoters and poseur teenagers.

Had they chose and unkown singer (see Slash's Snakepit which had "original" :rolleyes: drummer Matt Sorum as well and singer Eric Dover) they probly not do so well......

ok, and with new gnr, we get bumblefoot fans, we get NIN fans, we get GNR fans and new gnr isnt huge either and the only reason theyre selling any tickets is because of the name Guns N' Roses. And then we get little fanboys like yourself whod suck axls dick, and thats it, because you idiots are the only people stupid enough to support a band with a washed up lead singer, 3 guitarists, of which one is good, a decent keyboardist, a drummer that isnt even there,a crappy bassist, and some idiot that stands around pretending to do something, and NO single, NO cd, and songs from the 80s which only one of the members contributed to. What is your fuckin point? I know plenty of bands that arent huge but are fuckin good bands.
