Most people in the UK will no doubt have heard of the 'jack the ripper' style serial killer targetting prostitutes in the East Anglia. This person/people have killed 5 so far in the last month and are most likely to be linked to a series of unsolved murders and dissappearances in the last 20 years.

All of the bodies have been disposed in a method that destroys any forensic evidence so police are left without any clues to follow up.

Thoughts on the profile of the killer please:

Hopefully prosecuters can build a strong case on circumstantail evidence, i.e. Scott Peterson.

yeah and theyre gunna face a simular problem that they had with jack the ripper, prostitutes will take him to a secluded place where no-one can see them. they're an easy target. the difference now is technology of course, so hopefully the police can uncover something.

I think its tragic for the families! not only do they hear that their daughter is missing or found dead, but they alsoo get told that they are/were a prostitute!

and we cant make profiles with some sort of evidence!

I think the biggest tragedy is that these women will go down in the history books as prostitutes and not as women. They will be remembered for being crack/heroin addicts and prostitutes rather than young women had their whole life ahead of them.

You can build a profile without having too much evidence. Because of the above reason and the fact that this person obviously knows about forensic techniques this person has planned these crimes and in detail and has a big problem with women. This person also knew about police techniques and also killed as many as possible in a short period of time because they knew the heat would become too obvious to continue killing.

Perhaps this person has recently contracted HIV/AIDs and has a vendetta. This person is most likely educated and male. I imagine police will be sifting through hours and hours of cctv data trying to find any clues.

I'm not sure why he's being termed a 'ripper', as far as i'm aware he's killing them by strangulation and there's no mutilation.

There's been rumours that he spends time with the corpses, dressing them up and shaving their body hair. Ted Bundy also did that.

That is so true, the new the other night showed them as young girls and gave a brief description of their lives and what they had hoped to become. I could have wept.

Something that knocks me sick is how one of the victims 'boyfriends' filmed her as she was getting ready to go to 'work' on the night of her disappearance as if he was proud of it or something. This woman had 3 kids, I hope they won't now be left in the care of that creep.

Yeah I read about that one that worked very hard to put herself through college to become a beautician and raise her child. One bad boyfriend and a whiff of heroin later she was a hooker. It made me sad.

As far as I'm aware he's the Suffolk Strangler. He's a lousy serial killer.

What is the tragedy about that?

It is true that they were prostitutes and drug addicts. We should not paint a rosie picture now that they are dead. Remember that these illeagal activities allowed them to be put in the position were that evil person could strike.

The lib dems what to legalise brothels to protect prostitutes. They shouldn't be on the streets in the first place. If the government bothered to crack down on prostitutes and drugs then maybe these poor women might still be alive today.

Tony Blair chooses to ignore the issues because he is a politician. This is completely different because this is about a sacred memory of an individual. Also it depends on how you identify yourself as an individual:

Yes these women were prostitutes but they were also young women. You or I may be a student/businessman/mechanic etc but you wouldn't want to be remembered as Ryan the Mechanic, I'm sure you would want to be remembered for more than that.

Prostitution shouldn't be legalised but lets not kid ourselves here, it is the oldest trade known to civilization.

its not in anyway similar to jack the ripper only that he kills prostitutes he doesnt use the same method also jack killed over a large period of time also jack remained anonymous throughout history whereas this ipswitch killer is already caught just doesnt no it ipswitch is a city but london (the rippers hunting grounds) is about 50 square miles clearly jack nu about the fact that they cant convict every man in 50 square miles and so many areas of london housed prostitutes so naturally scotland yard would never have found him he was to clever the dude in ipswitch has a much smaller area he made all the killings in a rough area (not over 50 square miles) we have modern forensic equipment now and lets not forget no1 can commit clueless crimes especially not in modern times he will screw up sometime
