I love every aspect of what the old band produced, in the studio, and what they did on the road. They lived through it all without ever dying, no matter how hard they tried. But my main reason for loving GN'R is Axl - there's just so many things about him that compells me to stay addicted to their music. Without Axl in GN'R what would have happened if he wasn't singing on Appetite???
The fact that they was the real proof of a ragz to richez band, says it all! It's something we want for ourselves. To be able to make it in this world, to a point where the least of your problems, is money!
The music, and how they started - like being real raw, then evolving into something bigger - more epic yet real rockin' and rippin' guitar riffs...woow!. A shame that Slash, Duff, Izzy & Steven didn't evolve like Axl did. And it's pretty amazing what kind of therapy he went through, as they were in the middle of their tour in 1991.
I could go on about the old band, but now i'm looking forward to what kind of future the new band makes for themselves...
If it's true that Axl still has the big guns yet to show us...then we have something to look forward to. I think somebody lost their hopes of a spectacular album, when we first heard the new leaked demos.
As long as Axl stays in the true GN'R spirit, I will follow him to the end of time.
As long as they keep playing around the world - GN'R will resurrect yet again, not only because of Axl, but because of the new band as a whole!
I certainly am looking forward to hear Axl's new GN'R album, without expecting too much. It would be wrong to expect too much, as it only will lead to dissapointment if it isn't what we expect, as we have seen over the years from many hardcore fans.
2006 WAS in fact the best year since the comeback in 2001 - and I hope we haven't seen anything yet!
What my hopes are for the tour for the album is that they will try to minimize playing something from all past albums - with mainly the new stuff. Just to see if it can carry the show - they don't have to be a marathon tour, but let's see what will happen in march. I suspect that the setlist won't evolve that much, since it's better to play it safe, than doing something that drives the fans away...
I really would like to see an official acoustic concert with GN'R again - just like they played in 2006...
