I think it's great overall. I have no complaints. Watching those dvd's gives me the feeling I was there. I was too young to see the old line-up, such dvd's are the only thing I can hold on to. Unless there will be some reunion in the very far future :)

I think that they could put much better show on sale.

I have an old version on 'VHS'.
Better than every show I've seen of them live.
The 'BAND' is doing 'VERY WELL'.

p.s.:
Axls voice isn't really that good on it. But to be true: It was nearly never much better back in those days.

If it compares well with some of the boots I've heard then it sounds promising. The track lists look good, for starters.

Thanks for the insights everyone.

I was too young to see the old line-up, such dvd's are the only thing I can hold on to.

I think that they could put much better show on sale.

this is the only place i can see the old lineup.

I wonder if there exists much more footage of the old GNR live that could be released at some point (another thought - Axl might want to suppress old GNR history and never allow it...) , it's a bit mindboggling to think that this might be the only live footage of them to ever be released officially.

Ritz '88 > Tokyo '92

Yeah, that's a good one (though I've only seen about 1/2hr of it, anyone know how much of that show was filmed, or shown?). Even a DVD of mixed live stuff from various shows of the old GNR rather than a live show would be cool, maybe some kind of documentary type thing, especially in quality 5:1 surround sound.

Headbanging... there were only like 5 of them doing it other than that they were like a fucking fake crowd with no reaction or excitement to anything.

i love them
best "nostalgic" effect for me. as i watched 'em a lot growing up.
stage is big. camera are good and you have a great variety of angles.

i admit this is a very "polished" version of a gnr show.

still amazing tho.

The Japs all looked wooded in the audience because something was happenin back around '92. Becuase of capatalism, the Japanese folk didnt know how to express their personalities, and were led by "nothingness" in their lives, had nowt to fill their empty souls with, thus showin no sign of enjoyment or entertainment of sorts in that show. That is why they were all stood there like carboard cutouts, bar the odd few being renagades and bouncing about.

But for them to be so wooden, in such a large capacity, is truly odd, to say that GN'R were absolutley fuckin mega huge in Japan.

Well i guess thats politics for ya.

The Japanese have a very calm and peaceful culture, they don't express their excitement in the same manner as Western people.

this could be one the the most ignorant statements i have ever read on this board. where are you getting your info? japanese crowds have ALWAYS been known for being quite reserved. in between songs, they will cheer the artists, but during the songs they are rather laid back. i do believe that i read that it was a sign of respect for the performance.

i have videos of kiss, judas priest, iron maiden, bon jovi, and motley crue....all of the crowds have behaved in a similar manner. the crowds are not lame, their culture is just different.

No-one seems to mention anything about Slash...IMO he played shite on this concert, whenever he bends, in the NR solo for example, he either takes it 2 high or doesn't quite reach the note.
The Paris concerts were a lot BETTER IMO, shame the majority of the concert was in daylight!

As someone who is engaged to a woman of Japanese heritage I find this type of language to be horribly racist, yet typical of most Americans. Isn't it ironic that Americans can throw around this word like it doesn't mean anything. I mean had these posters had dropped the N-Bomb it would have been a different story.

As for the DVDs I found the sound quality was lacking. Gilby appeared to be strung out, When talking about his new solo cd, Duff was sooooo hammered.

Just my 2 cents.

I remember buying the Tokyo concert when it first came out on VHS...I was alittle dissapointed....it was too clean...there was just something about the lighting and Axl running back and changing every five minutes...it wasn't raw like the Ritz in 88'.  I like the shows in 91' where Axl is sweating his ass off and his hair is soaked and he didn't give a fuck  and he's just saying whatever he wants.  And I was even more dissapointed when they came out on DVD with no features added to the discs.
...silence isn't golden...

It could have just been the recording technology wasn't up to scratch, but i thought they lacked a little bit... Axl's voice wasn't the greatest, it seemed to take him some time to get into a song, eg s.c.o.m, the start was shit, but it got better.
And I think Gilby's guitar was too quiet, i can hardly hear any rythm guitar.
