April 3 --- CHINESE DEMOCRACY UPDATE FROM RON

The mixing is done ... as Guitarist Bumblefoot told Maximum Treshold in his most recent interview
- "but I haven't listened to the final mixes yet!"

Are you gonna be included on all tracks?
Not on all, but on a good chunk of them, definetely. I played a lot of rhythm parts to the stuff - To me, it felt like a lot of the rhythm tracks seemed a little mechanical and just didn't have that kinda sleazy thing that GNR always had... Also, I was pretty much given a hundred guitar solos for each song to find the thing that's gonna work best - we made sure that every possibility was there.

How many tracks have you been working on?
I don't know... we've done so many songs and not all of them will be on the album. I don't wanna know too much about the album - I want to be surprised myself.

Did you have to talk to Axl about certain ideas he wanted or was it all left up to you?
He'd always be checking stuff... a lot of times we were recording he wasn't there - he just called and said "Hey play me some shit!" and we just hold up the phone to the speakers...

Can you tell us what guitars and amps you used on the album?
Les Paul, and the Fretless... just plugged into an old Marshall. And I had an old JCM-900 - layed some tracks with that one, too.

Did you go directly into the board or did they mic your stuff?
All mic'ed up - crank the fuck out of it and mic it up. For my own stuff I go direct, but you need different kinds of sounds for GNR.

You're gonna be touring with the band, correct?
We're gonna hit Japan, then South Africa, and we have some more stuff in the works towards the rest of the year.

Sleazy rhythm playing and JCM 900s, seems like the touring changed Axl's view of what the album should sound like.  More old school GNR.  I'm guessing that the mechanical sounding rhythm guitars Ron is referring to, are Robin's rhythm playing.

and he is right, some rythmic parts sound too mechanical, like "better" for exemple, it needs o be more "dirty" ala old GN'R
