NASA under fire
« on: April 20, 2007, 07:03:05 PM »
Currently a shooter is holding hostages @ NASA...  Two shots known to be fired, unknown gun-"person"; unknown if anyone has been injured.

Hm.  What the F is next?

Happy Birthday Hitler!    ...don't take that seriously.

see 10 years ago, hell 5 years ago, this would surprise me... but now it doesn't, wake up in the morning to more bombings in Iraq or Iran or Afghanistan or anywhere in the middle east with 20, 30, 50 people dead. 2-3 weeks ago a girl was tortured and murdered in Japan, theres gun massacres a plenty in the USA, theres stabbings and shootings here in the UK. i guess all we can do is get on with life and hope to hell it doesn't hit us, but inevitably it probably will. w00t for the world. god take me back to the 90's  i will live by my thoughts that in 2000 the millenium bug didn't hit computers and electronic stuff, it hit us, because ever since 2000, the world as Royal Accident said has REALLY gone to hell.

I'd say ever since 2001 the world has gone a bit mental. 2000 was ok.  Shooting and random murders happen all the time. It's nothing new. The international political climate is what is getting hostile ever since 9/11.

But y'know, we have it good. At least we didn't have to worry about being vaporised like our parents during the cold war and then they had it good compared to their parents who actually did fight in a world war.

Be appreciative of what you have, which is to be honest as good as anyone has ever had it.

thats true.

i just remember an old woman in her 80's (only know this cos shes a friend of the family) on the bus about a year ago was chatting away and i overheard her say and this is word for word "I'm glad i haven't got long left on this earth because its really going downhill".. unfortunately i found out a month ago that indeed her days are nearly up as she has been diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor.

She's probably going mental then. Anybody who thinks life was better 80 years ago is either senile, blindingly nostalgic or a mixture of both.

All you have to do is look at the stats. Child mortality, poverty, life expectancy... everything is so much better now.

Old people who think they know so much more than you just because they're old are full of shit. They smell like shit too.

Especially old folks on the bus because if you've been on this earth 80 years and you still haven't got yourself a bit of money together so you're not riding the bus in vulnerable old age, you were probably a moron all your life anyway.

i never said she said its worse nowadays, she just said shes glad she doesn't have long left cos its going downhill. and shes a great old woman, i've talked to her dozens of times and as i said shes a friend of the family. she ain't going mental, at least she wasn't. and she does have money although she takes the bus because her friends are on it, and thats because her husband died 4 years ago and the rest of her family emigrated so all she has left is her friends. all she is, is a nice, frightened old lady whose had a ton of bad luck and feels that the only thing she can blame is the world because hell, there is no one and nothing else to blame in her eyes. if that makes her mental or a moron in your eyes then so be it, but in mine, it doesn't.

Police say a NASA contract worker who barricaded himself in a Johnson Space Center office building has killed himself and a hostage.

Police surrounded building 44, after receiving reports that shots were fired.

Employees were evacuated from the building, as officers and the SWAT team surrounded it.

Police determined the man was barricaded inside the building, and weren't able to establish communication with him.

After a four hour standoff, they learned of the tragic results.

There is no word yet on the identity of the gunman. Police have only said they believe he was in his 50's or 60's.

Apparently there were two hostages. only one was killed, and then the guy shot himself....Craziness.

It started at 2 something and ended at 6:30 ish.
they are the manliest thing about manliness.

Dude, that was... that was beautiful  :'(

Actually, as depressing and nihilistic as this sounds, when you get to the end and you have nothing to show for it, it's comforting to blame the world like it owes you something but the truth is fate is ice cold and indifferent.

People wanna hear how they've been victimized because it'll validate their existence but the truth is that the real happy and successful people are the ones who realised that you don;'t get anywhere with that kind of attitude.

Nobody owes you shit in this life and everybody cares about themselves no matter how nice they may seem. If it came to life and death they'd fuck you over in a nanosecond.

Sympathy vote your old lady all you like but she's still wrong. I don;t think she's a moron but she's still wrong.

Which is sad but true as Metallica would say.

That's such an awesome riff. *headbangs*

and as rare as this is dude. i agree with that 100% and not just about the riff. she is wrong but hell, it is easier and more comforting as you said to blame everything else.

3 coworkers went out two lunch.  1 woman, 2 men.  one of the men when they returned tied and gagged the other two.  the crazy shot the male and then himself.  sounds like an isolated incident of jealousy, or some kind of love triangle.

^  war will never stop.  that is the nature of man; man will live the way he wants to live, right or wrong.  hell,  we said FU to the French to come here (USA) and start a new life; now we are trying to impose our thoughts on the rest of the world.  a bit ethnocentric, but thats the nature of the beast...  and truth be told, we are fighting a just war even if it may be a never ending battle (war on terror analogous to war on drugs).  it boils down to hate, and there is a lot of it in the world.  i'd be more concerned with humans that steal babies and use them as their personal F toys, or zoophiles... not war.
