How much impact
« on: April 26, 2007, 02:07:29 PM »
How much impact could IRS have on the public?  Many think that the song isnÂt that great or powerfull, I personally like it and love it, but once again how the public will react to this song is a good question, we know that ¨better¨ is gonna be a hit no matter what, and other songs can make it also (Catcher in the rye, madagascar, blues, )

Do you think this is one of the weakest song on the album?

I think the finished studio will be light years ahead of the leaked demo. Anyone who has ever heard this song played live knows it is much more powerful then it sounds on that old track.  I think that the song could be a third or fourth single. It has that great intro that is very zeppelin esque...

Of everything we've heard, it's probably lyrically the weakest, but the arrangement is dynamic. The final studio version will have a much more fast paced and build......one would think. That's what I really dig about the song.
Like at the climax of the song it when Axl screams "you know it's true.." which blends into the guitar. Shiver enducing. Then that sassy Bucketheaded solo. Oh My.

Yeah the scream in it is fantastic, i really like I.R.S and for me it would be good as a 3rd or 4rth single. I think the public would like it, but then again who am i?. Its very powerful for anyone who has seen it live, good good song

The real impact of the IRS will be felt by Axl when he goes broke dumping money into an album and never releasing it and the IRS goes after him for unpaid taxes.

I'm really not a pessimistic person (not sure on the spelling) but the longer this drama goes on I have to start to believe all my friends that harrass me and say Chinese Democracy will never be released.

None of the demos would have any impact on the mainstream at all.

Sure they might reach top 10 in the rock charts, but won't touch the main charts. They are simply not strong enough songs to warrant any excitement.

Hopefully they represent the filler, because if they are the killer the album is going to be a joke.

I fail to agree with you there buddy. If Better doesn't hit the mainstream hard then there's only two things that could be happening;

. End of the world

Failing that

. The media are even more retarded than most people even dream of...

But yeah, I agree with the final I.R.S. is gonna be a lot better than the studio we heared, just like TWAT. The Blues goes without saying so does CITR - I have my doubts if Maddy will make it as much as the harder rocking songs, but I think it will do alright compared to some of the bawlzy music that's out there today.

I still and always will love IRS, the first time I heard it I was like WAAATTT and I showed my dad haha and he loves it. My opinion, IRS won't be a single, even though it is a favoured track of mine.

I truly believe that this whole album is going to have a big impact on the music scene.I recently heard a short clip of chinese democracy on youtube and it blew me away.I also think that it is finally ready to be released. The timing is perfect, sold out shows,1 month untill tour starts(time to promote),and now I heard better has been hitting airwaves again.Just seems right to me now,but I guess we will see

damn, all u people should wake up! you're hyping that shit so much, that you're thinking all these new songs will reinvent rock n' roll and be huge hits. that's not very realistic. especially better isn't a very strong song.

I.R.S. will fail simply because of the lyrics.  The Blues may be able to be a hit, but i dunno if people still listen to power ballads.  and Better could be a hit if they take out the synths, although i prefer them there, most people don't.

most of you have heard demos from the old band, before they made the finished product. there is a vast difference between the demos and the finished product. personally i believe that irs will be one of the best songs on the album. especially that f*cking scream on 'you know its true' god i love it! but yeah. that as well as twat, better, chinese democracy, maddy etc are all gonna be a million times more refined than currently, and to be honest, they are not bad currently. i can imagine all songs will have stronger vocals by the release, as axl is such a perfectionist that i dont think he could stand to release anything that wasnt as strong as he could make it.

also, remember how much production axl did to the UYI albums before they came out? i doubt that he will release CD until its that refined and produced, and the demos weve heard arent near that yet, except for perhaps the opening on the 1 minute leak of chinesedemocracy (f*ck thats gonna be mindblowing. i think it will definitely be the first track on the album, and everyone who hears it will cry about how good it is) lol

ok, ill shut up now. not sure how much of what i just said actually had a point

I saw g n r in december in minneapolis and IRS was maybe the best song of the night.  The sheer power of the song live was fuckin awesome.  If it is anything like it is live on the album it will be a huge song

this gonna sound crap but hear it out, now i think that CD is gonna be like FF12 because i live in england so we only just it and my mates say that it not realy that good after all that wait it was crap, i think that CD could turn out like that because we waited that long and the hype has grown and grown that we expect so much from this album which might not cum at all of it could just be flop

for the single lets kick off the new era of Gnr with a bit of conterversy a song like silkworm should fit the bill

Well...the lyrics of IRS are weak yeah, but then again...you see any of the modern music fans actually listen to the lyrics? As long as it sounds good on the ears, it'll sell...so I don't think lyrically it will be a problem for GnR. It's a song that will kinda please best of both, the public will like it because it's a likeable song and we like it...because we do. Yeah it could be better, but it probably will be in the final mix! Maybe I've been here long enough for everyone to realise that I'm not some fanboy, but I really think that the demos we got have immense potential...all of them!
