« on: May 03, 2007, 11:15:16 AM »
Have recorded a couple of demos in my room for a band i'm hopefully gonna start up this year. Any feedback would be great - good or bad or whatever!

Cheers

If u want feedback, turn ur amp up to ear bleeding levels and then cue You Could Be Mine
I could wile away the hours
Conferrin' with the flowers
Consultin' with the rain
And my head I'd be scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain

re24311 you songs sound good you just need to get a real drummer and spend some time perfecting them. I like the guitar lead on the first track. It sounds a lot like Guns N Roses or Metallica at times. I heard one part that sounded a lot like GNR but i am not sure what song that was from.

The guitar is great though by the way. I love how it sounds for the lead solo parts. The next Slash maybe is here. Just keep working on it. I am impressed. If that guitarist wants to do some work on my tunes I would consider it in the future. Really. I cant stress enough get a great drummer and things will sound a lot better. Then get yourself a bad ass singer. You guys could go somewhere. I am not really sure about the bass parts. You could consider working on the bass guitar to sound like duff. But great start.

Those comments were fantastic, thanks a lot for those. I played all the instruments (bass and all guitar parts) and programmed the drums using a drumming program as i don't own a drum kit or have the capabilities to record one very well in my bedroom! I just mic'd up my amp to my computer and recorded the instruments one by one starting with the drums to set the beat.

They're only very rough demos and i've spent time since improving them vastly. Hopefully i'll find a bass player and a drummer sometime.

Thanks for the support, it really means a lot, although at the moment i'm just a 1 man band!! (I do have a vocalist lined up though!)

my question, is how did you get better quality than professionally done demos? can you tell me everything you used?
I never wanted you to be so full of anger
I never wanted you to be somebody else
I never wanted you to be someone afraid to know themselves
I only wanted you to see things for yourself

I use Cakewalk guitar pro 3 to record my stuff. First i create the drum track using hammerhead rhythm station 1.0 and then mic up the guitars and bass to my computer and record them one by one.

I'm pleased you think the recording is good quality though. I'm self taught on the guitar and also now recording!! Hope you liked the songs i wrote though too!!

Any more questions then feel free to ask!

I've not been recording very long. Just downloaded cakewalk and mic'd up my guitar and just pressed record really! I think that i've gotten better as i've done each track but they're only stuff that i can work on properly once i get a proper band up and running.

I recorded track 3 1st, track 2 2nd, track 4 3rd and track 1 4th, so maybe you can see how i progressed. Track 3 is very rough and a bit crappy as you might well tell!!

I think that this is a link for the same program i use. It's pretty easy to use, as is hammerhead. Although, with hammerhead it takes a very long time to sort out drumming for a whole track

http://www.torrentspy.com/torrent/1273117/Cakewalk_Guitar_Tracks_Pro_v3

There's a link and i guess i must have just gotten lucky trying out a program that was easy to use!!
