or he had loyal members. or they agree that writing pop songs they'll sell more. or they agree that writing 80's hard rock and trying to sound dangerous in their 40's is ridiculous. who knows?

You have made a great point! That is why Axl will have a harder time. If we use Bon Jovi as the example: You listen to their early stuff (run away, living on a prayer, etc) this stuff was good in its time period. But, as the 80's came to an end, and music changed, BJ chnaged, and also matured as did their music. IE their music aged alonf with them (it changed, so today when you hear songs like "have a nice day" you may not like it as much as the old, or at all, but it fits. Now, TWAT, BETTER, CD, these are great songs. The biggest problem is that Axl fell off the face of the earth after UYI, so the majority of people hear GNR and think of AFD and a bunch of 22 year old drug addicts. 20 years pass, Axl is a 44 year old millionaire, he is more mature, as his his music. But, the public did not get to hear the aging of the music, he leaves with Jungle, and comes back with Better. Better is a great radio friendly song, if that is any other bands song, it is well received. But most people keep seeing axl as this 22 year ol punk wering a kilt. He goes into public wearing a suit and have of you blast him for it. I am sorry, but I dont want to hear a millionare singing new songs about how hard life is on the streets. Just not credible.
I dont know why people like the RS think we are going to get AFD2, have of these "experts" were not even old enough to go to a gnr show, how can they compare?

that RS reviewer thinks that Axl will come back with AFD: the return and welcome back to the jungle, lol. We can see that his musics just fit with his age and what he is living. like The blues. he was depressive, he was sad for some time. in this mean time, i think he wrote the blues, or at least the lyrics. there was a time? well, the music itself explains all... 'i would do anything for you... there was a time'. i personally love these new musics but people keep waiting a new Mr. Brownstone. he isnt drugged, he will not write a song based on drugs or whatever, but some people just cant accept. well, at least a lot of people accept that and they'll love Better, CD and The Blues. I love guitar work in TWAT, i love the blues and CD, i love Better, madagascar... people love these songs. the world is not lost yet. I think that in 1 or 2 years i'll listen radio eventually, cause i wont hear only emo songs. its hard, but chinese democracy along with other few cds can save rock nowadays.

nice post, I agree with you.
A lot of fans are waiting for the young (or old) Axl, trowing chairs from the last floor , wrecking hotel rooms, going to jail every month, stuff like that.Wake up, even stars get old. He's not naive how he used to be.

It's just a matter of time someone will post some crap about his look, i read a lot of comments about Axl's shape and look, why don't you worry more about his music than his shape?I don't care if he is fat, bald or anything like that.I just need his powerfull voice, lyrics and music, and I will be happy.  ;)

This is a very good point. You cannot be stuck in the past, and, just because of Axl's being, let's say "missing", for so long, think that he'll be releasing a continuance of AFD and UYI, without evolution. GN'R has evolved, and both the critics and the public should bear in mind that the old GN'R banished loooong ago.
But, what can we expect from a magazine that praises Britney Spears and thinks that "Ooops, I did it again" is "terrific"?

ItÂs sad to realize that one persons opinion will create pre-conceptions and opinions to thousands, maybe tens
of thousands consumers who will read the RS article....
"hey man, the RS said that CD is crap!!!! They are a very big magazine... Geez! they must be right!!!!"
Why people nowadays donÂt question things more?
Are people really that stupid?  :O
And I can see it all happening

Where did we go wrong? Is it the education system that erases the healthy criticism towards infuential
  institutions like RS?
  Deaf,dumb and happy

Yeah!
ItÂs just mind-bogglingly stupid that how the western education-systems teach people to perceive their
reality through others perceptions... if you know what I mean...
And it boils down to this that a person that woke up on the wrong foot in the morning, can have an impact
to consumers buying habits and what they perceive as cool or what they think about ... :disgust:
Jep, I shouldnÂt think so much, that way it would be hell of a lot easier....
Build it and they will come...
