Just because he plays slowly doesn't mean he's not able to play faster.

indeed, he certainly chooses to play slower more passionate solos than shredders like BBF and Buckethead.

Can't say I agree.  Robin's solo is full of emotion and has a very unique feel that I think fits the song perfectly.  I think Robin's done an admirable job on the solos, his solos on TWAT, Better and The Blues are excellent IMO.  Of course on TWAT he gets his thunder stolen by that amazing Buckethead outro but still, he's done a good job even though his style is unconventional

I totally agree with this!! I could n't have put it 'better' (sorry ) myself. I was probably one of Finck's fiercest critics, but I've had to eat my words after these latest leaks. On a side note does anyone agree that without getting too carried away that Buckethead's solo on TWAT is one of the greatest ever!!  :)

Finck's Blues solo rocks - it's perfect for the song and that's what matters.......

I think the new GNR would be lost without Finck, truthfully....

I love Bucket and Ron, but even though Finck's playing style isn't a throwback to the old GNR, something makes him sort of a link between the old and new.  I can't put my finger on it...

I'm saying that chemistry is very key to good music. Given the right lineups, people will sound better and be able to work better, its the way music works. I know based on experience.

damn, yeah, that's it! and that's what most of the people here are not understanding! that's why new gnr will never be as great as old gn'r!

I don't very much like all the sudden stops in the first half of the solo.  Actually I think many people will eat him  alive for it.  But The second half I love.  Not all that technically hard to play... at all, but it sounds nice.

But I will say at least Finck, gives these guys some emotion.

I love the solo-it has very lyrical phrasing and serves the song.  There is a lot of passion in his playing.  Every notes needs to be there-sometimes guitarist tend to overplay but Robin does an excellent job.
I will grant you that he is sometimes sloppy but so is Jimmy Page(not comparing the two).  Slash is guilty of making glaring mistakes sometimes such as when the guitar melody kicks in on the Live Era Estranged.

Well I like the solo as a whole, its a very beautiful melody but its really kinda of a mediocre take on the recording honestly, I've heard Finck play that solo many times before, and many times before he has played much better. His recordings seem a little to sloppy, also heard in the Better Solo. At one part of the Better solo he bends a note really slowly but the intonation is totally off and it makes me cringe every time. All he has to do is make these slight corrections and it would be beautiful  :)

As for whoever said the Buckethead solo in the end of TWAT being the best solo ever, its really not. Despite how cool TWAT sounds its really not anywhere near the best soloing I've heard, in fact, from a technical stand point the guitar licks in the solo are really really simple, tho sound good. But definately not good enough to blow your mind. You want to hear some insane buckethead solo? Go listen to Nottingham Lace.
