Yeah, some bands might release covers of CD material and then they'll get all the credit from the public. When the album comes out everybody will think its a cover and wont buy it.

Man, I like this. Good voice (indeed an overall 'ozzy' vibe to the song), acceptable length  :D and nice guitarplaying.  At this stage I even like this stripped down version more than the recently leaked demo.

This is actually a very relevant point.  With such high quality leaks reaching the masses I imagine it will prompt them to get it in gear and get this thing on the shelves.  It's happened with movies and albums before where the release date was pushed up because of the fear that internet leaks would let all the air out of the balloon.

I don't think this cover is better than the leak at all. I've just listened to the leak right now and it kicks asses!!!
In any case, I've got one doubt: has this cover been "officially" released, or is it just a demo or something like that? I don't know much about copyright but, are they entitled to cover this song (which hasn't even been released, nevermind the leaks) and include it in an album which is gonna be sold or legally distributed? :question:

Yeah, but this take on the song prolly cost about 50-100£ instead of millions...   :D   Anyway, I think this cover's very charming in it's own way.

I ain't saying it's awful, just that the original is much better.
BTW, how do the use of other songs work in UK? In Spain, if the song is registered in the authors' society, you can cover it but without changing the lyrics and paying a fee to that society (despised by everybody in the country). Then, the authors' society will give the author (or the copyright owner) of the song his part. Or at least, that's how I think it works. But I'm not totally sure nor do I know how much an artist has to pay in order to cover a song. And I don't know for sure if all Spanish authors/artists belong to the author's society (I think they don't).

Then I apologize, that just came across as an outwardly racist and ignorant comment to single out the MLK samples specifically.  Personally I think they add tension and a sort of majestic quality to the song.  (And also think to an extent he's still trying to atone for One in a Million...apparently hiring Tracy and Roberta didn't do the job...  ;)    )

Is this the band that said they recorded after they heard it in Pukkelpop '02 and they didn't want to release it until the record is out?

Theres some 'nice' guitar work and nice tempo but overall you can say its.. yes interesting, a nice a try but mostly bollocks

I said that because from what i remember it was mostly MLK. I dont listen to it much because it's rather annoying, if axl is trying to say something he should write some lyrics.

I agree, I think the samples in the middle of the song fit just right. They add some real weight to the song.

I just love this song, so even if Gwen Stefani, who I just hate, cover it, I will love. I think that even gospel singers could cover it, well, it would be strange... :lol:
