Slash, VR & Axl
« on: May 12, 2007, 10:48:30 AM »
I just don't get what is up with VR.  I know this was a big issue in GNR but I must admit that after the recent leaks, Axl was DEFENATELY the driving force of quality behind GNR.  I've listened to Contraband and some performances from tracks for VR's up and coming album Libertad.  Where are the deep solos? Where is that overall feel that slash brought?  Maybe slash wasn't as much of what GNR was than I originally thought.  Anyway, kudos to Axl.  These songs are all AWESOME and this is ALREADY the best album that I will get my hands on since 1992 woooot!

Yeah well i think Axl had a way of "slithering" through their drug filled bodies and finding their hearts and bringing it out of them. Without him it's just testoserone gone mad.

Slash is a no hoper without Axl or Izzy, someone who actually can build a song from the ground up.

I always tought Izzy was the brain.... but Slash!!! I love Slash, he made GNR what they are, every original member is as important as Axl.

Slash is a great and talented guitarist no question.  However I don't think he's the most motivated musician, he seems more content to just rock out and have fun rather than really push himself to maximize his talent and potential.  This has been evident ever since he left GnR

True but also keep in mind for how long chidem has been in the making(9 or 10 years or so), as compared to contraband which was probably made in like one year, and libertad which didnt take long either. What i mean is, even though Chinese Democracy is gonna be awesome, can we say the same about the albums that are gonna follow?

First things first, wouldn't you say? ;D

But I mean, it's obvious that Axl, Slash and Izzy were like goddamn Christian Trinity or something, but right now, I'm more interested in how good Axl actually will do with a completely new band. And from what we've heard so far it's no question about it that it's gonna blow all VR has put out so far out of the river. I just hope that there are some breath-taking moments of absolute geniusness using the whole bands influences on the album.
