i heard rumours a while back that Eric Bischoff was planning on bringing back WCW

How the hell would he do that? :?:

WWE own the rights to WCW and everything WCW related.

The montreal screw job was around the time I started waching wrestling. Even though I had no idea what happened at the time. Now I believe Bret was right to do what he did, Vince screwed Bret.

Actually when you know all the facts of the years previous, its no surprise Vince did do it and IMO he was right to.

1995 - Lex Luger's Contract runs up with WWF the night before the debut WCW Nitro episode. Luge-r gives Vince his WORD he will be at RAW the next night to sign a new contract. the next night Luger shows up and debuts on the debut Nitro Episode, now under contract with WCW.

1996 - Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, known in WWF at the time as Diesel and Razor Ramon, both give Vince their word as their contracts are closing that they will both sign fresh ones. A week later Nash phones Vince to say that they're (WCW) offering him alot of money". Vince says that he can't offer Nash that kinda money but he hopes he stays loyal to the WWF. 1 week later both Nash and Hall turn up on WCW Nitro as "the Outsiders"... Scott never even called Vince.

1996/7 - Alundra Blaze, the WWF Womens champion of the time, turns up under contract at Nitro after giving Vince "her word" and proceeds to drop the WWF Womens belt in the trash live on TV.

November 1997 - Bret Hart gives Vince his word that even though his contract runs out the night after the survivor series, he will relinquish the belt on RAW... Vince for once doesn't take the word of someone, takes the safe road that any other person would and all of a sudden hes the bad guy?

All in all i would've screwed bret after all those experiences. ya gotta understand, the WWF was on the losing end at that time and if Bret took the WWF Heavyweight belt and "Done a blaze", it could've tarnished the image even more and put them eventually out of business. However, Vince's decision that night created the Heel McMahon, the Mr. McMahon character, and that Character's fued with an up and coming rebel by the name of Stone Cold Steve Austin would eventually save the WWF and drive WCW out of business. Jim Cornette said "I've known Vince along time and the worst decision's i've always seen him make were taking people by their word"

anywho, WCW was supposed to make a return and take the place of Smackdown back in 2002 when the brand split occured, so it'd be WWE Monday Night RAW v.s WCW Thursday Night... whatever lol but it was scrapped at the end of the day. Bischoff is currently enjoying some time with his Family in Arizona and running his own production company that he created in 2003, as of right now, WCW is dead ( :'() and there are no known plans of anyone bringing it back.

it was just rumours but vince did bring back ecw with heyman in charge so the same thing could happen with wcw with bischoff in charge to make money that smackdown is losing each week

Vince asked Bret to lose the belt in his hometown on one of his last appearences for WWF. I don't blame him for not agreeing to that. He could easily have retained the belt and then gracefully bow down as champion the next night.
But Vince kept pushing him, and then eventually ending the match some minutes early, without Bret knowing what the hell was going on. After that, Bret went nuts. After all, Vince, HBK and even ref Earl Hebner were all in on putting the belt on Michaels that night. Bret got screwed.

I really would not like to see a revival of WCW under WWE or even on its own again. Even though I was never a fan, it would just be impossible to try and re-create the war between WWE and WCW that once was. It would fail miserably.

I would love another major wrestling promotion to become fresh cometition for WWE. Like someone said earlier, it's healthy for the superstars to have an alternative place to go. TNA is improving but it's going to need to do alot more if it wants to become serious competition for the WWE. And the writing is horrible. :puke: They have alot of great athletes and talent, but unfortunately, not one person in that company knows how to use them.

do you realise how many people have lost belts in their home town? hell edge did last year. it is NO biggie. its simple, Vince got burned too many times so this time he didn't wanna risk it. he knew there was no way Bret would let his shoulders go down for the 3 that night so he took matters into his own hands and rightly so. it was good for the business, if bret graciously bowed out in his home town or never even went to wcw, he would've never got screwed. bret screwed bret by not doing what so many others do and thats graciously dropping the title in his hometown, it was unprofessional, so Vince showed him the meaning of the word. Bret is one of the greats, hes one of my favourites but that night, the correct thing happened, the incorrect way. In the end, why should Vince care about a guy whose just turned his back on the company and the fans that made him just to make more money? why should he help Bret? Vince screwed bret? yes he did but before this happened, bret screwed vince.

You're right, and I'm probably just defending Bret because he's one of my favourite wrestlers. He shouldn't have refused to give up the belt, that was unprofessional. But Vince was also unprofessional by ringing the bell without Bret knowing what the hell was going on. In the end, it's kind of both their faults I suppose.

@ JLR: Shawn admitted that he knew the whole time what was going on and that face of shock he had at the end of the match was just an act. That, and the fact that recently he was in Montreal and said that he screwed Bret once and he'd screw him again. It was something along those lines...

Anywho, that incident worked wonders for the WWF.

haha that rocked cos he played Bret's music and the place went crazy and then they realised and he got MAJOOOORR heat for it.

anyways WCW will be back just a little bit more. reports coming in say that WWE is looking to bring back a WCW PPV name, either they're gonna replace Armageddon with Starrcade and/or replace No Mercy with Halloween Havoc. talk also claims that they are thinking of bringing back the old "War Games" match for the Survivor Series. which is one of the greatest matches of all time.

War games in WWE would be amazing. Better than the elimination chamber which I think has actually rum its course, I never enjoy it anymore.
