Pink Floyd
« on: September 15, 2007, 08:12:28 PM »
Who on here likes or dislikes the mighty Floyd? Personally I think they're fantastic!!  :)  In the age old argument of Gilmour Vs. Waters. I side completely with Gilmour, one of the greatest guitarists ever!! Waters in my opinion became too egotistical.

They've also provided us within the past few years with one of the greatest moments in music history with their flawless set at Live 8!!  :)

My favourite album is 'Dark Side Of The Moon' closely followed by the underatted 'Division Bell' My favourite songs are 'Time', 'Money', 'Breathe', 'Comfortably Numb' and 'Coming Back To Life' to name a few!!

I would also reccommend David Gilmour's new live DVD 'Remember That Night - Live at The Royal Albert Hall' it's tremendous!!

Your turn guys!!

 :)

'What I thought was beautiful, don't live inside of you anymore.' - 'Street Of Dreams' - Guns N' Roses.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about  :)

I like those guys, especially the "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Wish You Were Here" album  :D

A few weeks ago I was reading a book or some kind of biography - depends on what you'd call it - about Barrett and those crazy times. It wasn't less insane than Barrett itself. And then some people call it "hyped" or "overrated" even if some stuff was so badly ignored man!  :?:

Favourite Song: Any Color you like / Brain Damage / Eclipse (yes it's one song to me)

 ;)

Just see my sig haha I don't think it was the fact that Roger got too egotistical. i think it was just the fact that he had a vision and wanted HIS vision to be perfect, the other guys just allowed him to see that vision however i recently watched a tape where Wright said that by the time it came to "The Wall" Concerts, nobody was talkin to anybody else and they all had trailers in a circle facing outwards haha... i think in a way, the band just did what most bands do, they got sick of each other.

I am a HUGE fan of the floyd, i listen to em almost constantly. about 80% of my listening is now pink floyd. my fav album is probably..... The Division Bell followed closely by Dark Side... David Gilmour is my idol.

Top 10 floyd songs are probably

1. Wish You Were Here
2. High Hopes
3. Comfortably Numb
4. Coming Back To Life
5. Shine On You Crazy Diamond parts I-X
6. Us and Them
7. Learning To Fly
8. Money
9. Run Like Hell
10. Eclipse

David Gilmour's solo stuff is awesome too, not too fond of Waters stuff but still... plus after seeing Floyd's PULSE DVD i was just literally like this :O for an hour afterwards. Definitely one of the if not THE greatest band of all time.. they definitely are in my opinion. David Gilmour is my god!

Animals takes me to dark places. God i love that album.

the Floyd are definitely one of the greatest bands ever. i would do anything to have one last album with waters back in the band.

Of course they're a brilliant band, but I wouldn't put them up there with my favourites, to be honest.

I own The Dark Side of the Moon & The Wall, Dark Side is amazing if you listen all the way through, but The Wall is kinda boring if you ask me (don't).

Can't deny the brilliance of David Gilmour, how fucking good is Comfortably Numb or Time

Animals > everything

I love Dave as a guitar player, but as a composer...Waters > Gilmour

yes yes yes

Pink Floyd is the bad that got me into music in general.  WYWH, DSOTM, Animals are some of the most brilliant music ever recorded.
