im just a GNR fan with a lot to get off his chest. Looks like i found the right place to do it, finally!  :)

I use this name when on Xbox live. It does make me prone to 10yr old noobs saying 'r u a monkey?' or 'banana, lol!' over and over and OVER. i've had it for a while, and i like it anyway, even if it makes me appear like a douche

I'm new to this forum, and just reading this one thread, it makes me so sad to see how much fucking animostiy there still is about 'who's better than who' etc.   :(
We all seem to forget that we're all passionate GNR fans. We all loved the band pre 1996, but as GNR4Life just said, GNR in 2007 is a totally different animal; Slash and co. have nothing to do with GNR now, just as Axl and co. should not be compared to VR. In a way, what each person has done since old GNR reflects their personality; Slash just wants to play RnR and cant stand waiting around, so has formed 2 bands and made lotsa good music, and Axl is a perfectionist, who takes his time to create brilliance, hence taking so long on Chinese Democracy.

My only reservation is that neither VR or new GNR can ever really match those early Gun's days. I've no doubt Democracy will be fucking fantastic, and having seen VR live (front row Manchester, woo!), i can say they are the only proper RnR band around who are selling records and playing amazing shows right now. The chemistry in VR is good, new Gnr, im yet to be convinced it isnt just 'Axl Rose and the others', but regardless, neither, or indeed any band will ever match that early fire which made such great music. And unfortunately, for me its that old aura which hangs around all ex-Gunners and present which will mean they can never achieve the same greatness. Just my opinion  :slywink:

Also, why does everyone say 'It was Slash's fault for GNR's breakup, or 'It was Axl's fault', 'Artisitc differences' or some other shit. Until you read Slash's book, you shouldn't have a valid opinon on that subject cos u weren't there, and he was. Only Slash and Axl can really tell us what went on there, so if u don't believe Slash, wait until Axl puts out a book with his story told. Lets please just stop talking so much shit. Drives me f***ing nuts.

did anyone find the book poorly written?

just some of his stuff has no transition and is kinda bad.....

just putting that out there..

Yeah, they could have done a better job editing as well but it was still a very interesting read.  It's cool to be able to read about inside information from an important member of the band.  I liked how it ended as well talking about his wife, his kids, and being sober now for a year.
