If "Chinese Democracy" Was A Slash Thing...?
« on: October 21, 2007, 06:56:28 AM »
Would any record label have given Slash around $15 Million & till 2007+ to make an album, had he not done so since '91....?

in all honesty it all depended who he got in his band, since Slash is just a guitar player and a decent one at that, whilst Axl can sing and play guitar and piano. Anyway i'm rambling so take no notice of me  :smoking:

On a sidenote: Slash is the selling point of VR

Scott will be joining GnR on air guitar. Fuelled primarily by heroin and aids.

In all honesty even if he brought in Micheal Jackson, Brain May etc. etc. and all the people he's worked with in the past it may have made two or three good songs. Like Coma was the pinnacle of his musical direction then he had to be forced into doing NR etc. It shows really that it's for the best nothing like this ever happened overall it may of been panned.

Plus he's just as lazy as Axl if not more like he says in his own biography and interviews in effect: That in VR he just plays or makes any old shit up on the spot and they base songs around it. Wooooo real dedicated artistic commitment right their.

I wouldn't go as far as call it actually playing the guitar it's more like... when you're carrying a tune

True - furthermore Slash is the reason for VR.  :)

Original plan from the record label was to have an album with Axl & Slash on it
They were both the selling point of GNR, nobody can deny it.

Since Slash left, it's difficult to say if GNR will have as much success as in the past, though the name GNR itself will help a lot.

And who knows if the label has given Axl till 2007 to make the record ? You don't know his contract terms... I think they have no other choice but to wait. I also think that Axl must pay a lot himself with his own money, cause no label, absolutly no label would generously wait 14 years long

True they have to wait, but if they really wanted to do something... to get Axl to pay attention, more could've been done than releasing a "Greatest Hits" to milk the bands discography.

Remember Duff and Slash contested GH as well. But i know what you mean i'm not sure of the legality but i'm sure it would of been possible to have a remix album with remixes done by Slash and Duff like how that 'HR the roots of guns n roses' CD remixed a few songs with gilby etc.

That would of caught alot of attention especially with updated GNR songs done  how Duff and Slash would of wanted them done without Axl's input and it would of pissed of Axl for added effect.

Well we could guess about this til the cows come home but at the end of the day we just have to accept the situation and hope for a peaceful resolution.

Though I think it's pretty clear we wouldn't be wating so long for CD if Slash was still involved

i doubt it, but what made GnR great was their balance, Slash and Duff kept it heavy and gritty, while Axl and Izzy made good lyrics

Slash was never much of a lyricist, like most lead guitar players, but he's damn good w/ a guitar
Chinese democracy starts...... at some point!!!
