Will the New Band be lyrically involved? Your Opinion Here!
« on: November 02, 2007, 07:09:40 AM »
I was just thinking about this... now we all know that the real GNR are Axl, Slash, Adler, Izzy and Duff.. even though the new band is great, no doubt about that.

So we got used to see GNR lyrically as more of a group thing, more of a couple thing! They were just this group of friends who went through a lot to get where they were with GNR and told they're explicit experiences in their lyrics!

Which leads me to the important question of this thread!
Judging by the leaks we've seen so far, the project chinese democracy seems to be kinda more towards Axl and his experiences, regrets, pain whatever... Do u think the band will get involved lyrically just like the old band did? Or is it your opinion that this band will work more concentrated on Axl in terms of lyrics?

Well, after AFD, Axl kinda did most of the writing, not all, but the other members were mainly there for the music I think...

So as this goes, I don't know...I would have thought that if the lyrics came from anyone it would be from Tommy or Finck, maybe Pitman. I certainly hope that everyone gets involved, but it's whether they are actually allowed to.

Well Axl has always been the biggest contributor to lyrics and this becmae more apparent in the UYIs. From the leaks I'd say pretty much everyting except perhaps CD and maybe IRS are all Axl's lyrics, don't know why just a feeling lol

I would think almost all the lyrics would be done by Axl, I mean remember the last time he let someone else right lyrics? (Silkworms)

I have the same feeling too, but i think its kinda wrong, cause if u wanna consider this guys the new gnr... u can't just exclude them from lyrics.. i mean... it makes them look like a cover band...i think it would be awesome and more productive if they were really involved in the lyrics.

well im not referring just as writers, but as experiences also... a lot of the songs were not just Axl experiences but also the other musicians... it was basically experiences they shared as a unity, as a band... this new band seems to be more focused on Axl alone as a person, not a group.. at least its my opinion, of what we've seen so far only of course

well i think one experience would be the one that they aren't welcomed and hated by pretty much 80% of the fanbase

My impression was that he wrote the riffs for it and probably the arrangements

well i put all my money in here that that isn't true... i mean probably 80% of people who comes to this new gnr forums... but iv seen millions of fans disappointed with this new band and other some that actually liked but also welcome the old band

Robin came up with the song and did the guitar parts but Axl came up with the lyrics, he says it on one of the new york shows

Yeah the 5/12 show, prior to that everyone was saying how it was a "Buckethead song" and Axl wanted to make sure people realized they didn't know shit
IT IS REALLY HAPPENING!
