anybody got any suggestion on how to start off on guitar?

ive been thinkin about it a while, ive got an old acustic lieing arround so i was wonderin if anyone could help me out on startin. i must stress i cant afford lessons, i have no idea what make the guitar is its a pile of crap. i also no next to nothing about notes etc

right basics .slash. are:

ure strings go bottom E A D G B top E (bottom E is the thickest string and bottom E the thinest)
ure frets are the space between the bars u should have dots or something on ure frets to mark them out and bassicaly the closer to the big hole in the middle u get the more high pitched the note u pick the string whilst pressing whatever string down to the fret board

im no guitar teacher but that should be the extreme basics covered

i knew frets and stuff im not that daft, so if i was looking down onto the guitar it would go E the thickest then A D G B then E again? or would it be the opposite way

you could also get one of those books which teach you how to play

Sometimes they do theres online lessons on youtube i find those helpfull some times

i started by learning deep purple nirvanna and greenday (i hate 2/3 of those bands) those are easy songs to get started out on i think the first song i learnt all the way through was smells like teen spirit

my first guitar was electric but with those songs it doesnt really matter all that much

yeah go with nirvana and ramones are quite good for beginners.

just start with the basic chords: c,d,e,f,g etc... just do a simple G D Am + G D C and you have a sort of acoustic version of KOHD

learn to find note everywhere on the fretboard
play chromatic scales using alternative picking (down, up, down up etc. )
learn major and minor pentatonic scales
learn some of your favourite songs and also jam over them and jam over the radio or what ever so you'll learn how different scales and chords work together...

It dosnt matter what make the guitar is as long as it tunes mate.
you dont need lessons find some music youd like to play, obviously start with something basic.
and talk to someone you know in person that can play well to give u the basics then expand on it yourself and youl find your own way if you practice.
