amp help pls!
« on: November 13, 2007, 03:54:01 PM »
hey guys long time not seen but it's good to be back,
so i'm planning to buy myself a new amp, at first i tought i'd buy myself a marshall ( just because it's a good brand( or that's what they say)) but recently i heard bad things about the MG's and stuff.so other brands are fine too So my price range is around 500 EUROS preferably a little less but i don't want to buy another amp next year,
i hope you guys find something on this site www.llmusiccenter.com (it's in dutch but i'ts almost thesame as english) just click on "amps" and you're there . but if it's not in that shop it's fine too just give me some ideas.

P.s i play a gibson les paul studio if that' helps a little bit

thanks

Let's be fair now, in its defence if he likes playing really bland, tinny, shit metallic cyborg metal then it's pretty much ideal

i agree there are a lot of great sounding amps out there, u just have to try themm first using equipment similar to ur own
I could wile away the hours
Conferrin' with the flowers
Consultin' with the rain
And my head I'd be scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain

to be honest it the amp makes the major difference. it would be best if you could try them. marshalls do partner well with gibsons but that depends on what marshall you buy. obviously mg's arent very good at all. there are many good amp manufacturers out there so if possible then go and try as many as possible. you will be bound to fall in love with the sound of one and it will be perfect for you.

A good Marshall and a good Gibson will go well together, but then any good guitar and good amp will go together (unless of course you're doing something stupid like playing a js1000 through an acoustic amp or a telecaster through a diezel etc), people just say that because it's the slash/page set up and therefore they assume that any combination of Marshall and Gibson will work

how much do you have to spend?
is it for bedroom or band use or room use or stage use?  primarily  like do you have a drummer?
will you drag it around all the time?

do you prefer tubes or will you settle for solid state?   Do you use effects?  Floor or panel?

What are your current thoughts about Kurt Cobain?

i don't play in a band right now, but ii'm going to soon so i don't want to buy another amp again for playing in thye band, and yes i also use it for in my bedroom. I don't know much about the differences between tubes and solid state ones so maybe you can explain the difference to me. Uhm atm i'm using a crybaby wah pedal and i'm gonna buy myself a boss dd6 as soon as i get money after the amp. my price range is 400-600 euros. i won't have to rlly drag it around much as long as i'm not in a band, and for other small things i have my shitty amp  wich i can take with me( it's pretty small)
